  • Low Carb Food Stores

    Hi,

I have been doing induction for about two weeks and do intend to continue doing it for atleast another month. I wanted to know if any of you have been to the sugarless delite store in Richardson, tx. They sell a lot of condiments and bakery goods for people doing the low carb diet. I am kind of getting to a point where i need some variety in the food that i am eating. Anyone has any good suggestions and anything i need to be wary of or maybe any other stores that carry some interesting low carb foods that i can eat during induction. Will be of great help

    Re: Low Carb Food Stores

Hello and welcome to ADBB! I think you'll find that most of us make our own stuff as opposed to buying it in a store.

There are recipes for just about anything at Linda's LowCarb http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html including ketchup, barbecue sauce, salad dressings and more.

What kinds of things are you missing? Maybe we can help you find the recipes.

As for bakery goods, most of that is made with soy flour which you can't have until you are in the ongoing weight loss stage where you are eating beans (legumes) as soy is a legume. Some of them also use wheat flours and wheat proteins, and you can't have them until the grains rung.

I do however have a quick recipe made purely of egg whites that you can make and use as a "bread" or a "wrap" or a "cracker" or a "crust". Just whip egg whites until they are thick and foamy, then spread on a pan and bake at 350 until browned. I've made this and put peanut butter (not allowed until you get to the nut rung) and jelly (fruit rung).

As you can see there are lots of foods you CAN have if you go ahead and work your way through the ongoing weight loss phases. If you are already missing foods, it's time to start doing that. Staying in extended induction won't guarantee a quicker weight loss...especially if feeling deprived causes you to eat something not on plan and you find yourself quickly putting it all back on again.
