  • atkins bar question...(I know, I know!)

I have never had these and am with all of you that say they are pure evil, haha! But I happened to glance at some at walmart today and dont understand how they are allowed when they say 17 grams carbs and 4 fiber, 1 gram sugar.

It also stated it was induction friendly??!!! HOW the heck do they figure that>?? These are the atkins advantage bars. What gives?

It's false advertising as far as the induction claim goes. The ingredients are not induction friendly:

INGREDIENTS: PROTEIN BLEND [SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN, WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE (MILK), SODIUM CASEINATE], GLYCERINE, POLYDEXTROSE, DRY ROASTED PEANUT, PEANUT FLOUR, PALM KERNEL AND PALM OIL, CELLULOSE, COCONUT OIL, COCOA POWDER (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, OLIVE OIL, BUTTER OIL, SOY LECITHIN, MALTODEXTRIN, SALT, GUAR GUM, CITRIC ACID, SUCRALOSE, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM. NUTRITION BLEND: TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, CALCIUM CARBONATE, MAGNESIUM OXIDE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, ASCORBIC ACID, SODIUM ASCORBATE, THIAMIN MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE, CYANOCOBALAMIN, ALPHA TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, NIACINAMIDE, BIOTIN, CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, ZINC OXIDE, FOLIC ACID, CHROMIUM CHELATE, PHYTONADIONE, SODIUM SELENITE. CONTAINS: SOY, MILK AND PEANUTS. THIS PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED IN A FACILITY THAT USES PEANUTS, OTHER NUTS AND SEEDS.

As far as the net carbs goes, those 'mystery' carbs they don't list are the glycerine and the polydextrose used to sweeten it. They are not supposed to have any effect on your blood sugars, like sugar alcohols, so they don't list them as part of the net carbs.

I have had the bars in a pinch, and i always count all of the carbs minus the fibre only. I think most are between 15-20g's per bar.

those are in no way food!!! ...look at that list of stuff in there!!! and they taste as crappy as all that stuff sounds!!!...the one time I took a bite of one of those things.. it flew out of my mouth faster than it went in!

Very good point on this!!! how can it claim that if it is not true really? I guess that is why there are other versions of the Atkins book and we like this one best

I think the most important part with induction is learning NOT to take the easy way out

      you know?
