    What exactly do you consider cheating? Going over on carbs a little, eating out of rungs or actually eating something with sugar and high carbs in it?? Just wondering...

      This topic has a way of creating much more controversy on the board than what it's worth, imo.

      The bottomline is that each of us needs to decide their goals and their plan to acheive those goals. So if you want to follow Atkins strictly, it's your choice and you agree to accept the risks and benefits of doing so. If you want to follow it less strict, it's your choice and you agree to accept the risks and benefits of doing so.

      One of my greatest pet-peeves are the people who "follow" Atkins their own way, don't acheive any of their goals and complain about how the diet doesn't work for them, how they aren't losing the weight, blah blah blah blah blah. Decide how you want your Atkins to proceed and be accountable for it.

        Six doughnuts for breakfast, Pizza and Ice Cream for lunch and Spaghetti with Garlic toast and apple pie for desert with candy for a snack. You ARE cheating.

          I've discovered that a "little cheat" leads to a "big cheat" and the next thing you know, I'm 10 pounds heavier. No more cheating, thanks. Quite honestly, the "cheats" never taste as good as I thought they did, so why am I making those choices? Yep, cheating is just not worth the paper it's written on.

            I think anything that goes against the plan is cheating, wether it be eating from a rung your not on yet, going over in carbs or eating too much of a legal food (guilty!) not exercising, or failing to control portions. I think its all considered cheating but one is only cheating themselves this way out of learning the nessesary skills to make this a permanant way of life and get the results they want and need to be come a healthier happier person.


            (by they way...I'm soooo preaching this to myself right now, haha!)

              Anything that is greatly going to effect your diet. That just depends on the person. I know myself. If I go out and order myself a pizza thinking its a one time deal. The next day I'll be eating at Mcdonnalds thinking its not going to mess me up, then before I know it I'm ######d again. So I don't go anywhere near the bad foods

              Now here a while back I was out with some friends and drank some Vodka, we got pretty tanked that night. That was back in august I think. I've still got half a bottle sitting on my self that I havn't touched sence. Over time I have learned about myself that I can say no to alcohol with no problems. Food however is my wagon, if I eat it, I'm probably going to fall off. (although probably not as bad on atkins as with other diets)

              Cheating just really depends on the person, if you can go out and eat a big bowl of ice cream or a huge hunk of cake one night and then go right back on the diet no problems, then in my opinion you are not really cheating. If you can't do that, then don't. Cause in a sence, you're not just cheating your diet, you're cheating yourself.

                      Everyone considers cheating in different ways. I know that for me, I can have a total binge weekend and get back into it. But if I dont start clean on that Monday, it can spiral out of control and 2 weeks later...I've put on 10lbs and miserable.
                      I know my limit and I stick to it. I love eating the foods that are bad for me, but it comes with the feelings of being incredibly bloated, going to bed with a stomach thats bloated and not wanting to make love to my other half cos i'm still full from my dinner, being miserable cos I know that I'm not losing weight and getting any closer to my goal, not being able to wear certain clothes cos i'm not feeling confident.

                      Did Atkins on and off from Feb 2005 until April 2008. Fluctuated between 15 st 1/211lbs and 11 st 1/155lbs.
                      On different weightloss programme from 28th May 2008 start weight 14 st 11/207lbs.
                      Current weight 10st 3lbs/143lbs.
                      Ultimate Goal Weight 9 st/126lbs.
