  • Can peanut butter be to blame???

It is still tom..but i have been eating around 3 tablespoons peanut butter a day plus about 3 or 4 handfuls of dry roasted ones!! I know this is wayyyyy to much for anyone! I know I cant control myself around any kind of nuts or peanut butter. Should I not buy them? I haven't gained in inches but on scale i have....could this be why???

Probably. I know, for me, peanuts and peanut butter make me crave more and more and more of them. Before I know it, I've eaten farrrrr too much. Also the salt in them (the roasted ones) might be causing you to retain water.

i think I read somewhere once too that sometimes foods that you have an intolerance to are ones that you often crave. Sooooo...if you are intolerant to peanuts (and one of the symptoms of food intolerance is cravings) then you could be also retaining water (bloating) because of them too.

Take them out of your diet and see how things go.

Coffee and peanuts are problem foods for me.

Do not buy it anymore!! I know in past FAILED attempts at Atkins that peanut butter is a big trigger for me. For peanuts perhaps they sell those small one portion servings at gas station or something? You could treat yourself to one a week.

Since you're on OWL, you might want to re-read the OWL rules, especially the one that says if any food brings back blood sugar instability problems (like cravings, etc.) you need to drop that food.

Just remember alot of us are fat because we have problems with controlling our portion sizes.

good idea! Maybe I do have an intolerence....I eat sooo much more of not only peanuts but of anything...so must be a trigger food...I wont buy it anymore! I can't have peanuts or pb in the house. I know we don't count calories...but I assume I was eating close to a 1000 in one sitting with those bad boys...ok I will see what happens

If you are on tom, you may be bloated. That could be the extra inches you are seeing. Salted peanuts don't help with that either.

I too have problems with peanuts or nuts in general. " You can't eat just one." That's me. I don't buy them, because I know I can't control myself. I have problems with cheese, too. I can't eat too much of it. I stick to about 2oz a day, and usually I'm ok.

My advice would be to stay away from salty foods and drink plenty of water and don't sweat the inches. Wait till after tom to measure.

Yep peanut butter is a trigger for me too. I am going to try to buy the pure stuff you grind yourself and see if I can control myself with that. If not, I'm not gonna buy it. >.<

Re: Can peanut butter be to blame???

Peanut butter was a killer for me too...I gave it up for a couple months, and very gingerly tested the waters with a different peanut butter...one that's organic and all natural and only has 1g sugar (from the nuts, no additives)...and I was finally to eat peanut butter like a "normal" person and not a wildebeest.

So yep, if you can't control it, give it up. Sucks, huh? But I would say that in a couple months you might want to try a different brand or something, just to test. Oh, and I STILL stay away from peanuts...those are very easy to overeat. I won't even buy mixed nuts with peanuts in them (I but the FANCY mixed nuts LOL no cheap peanuts in those...but my wallet surely feels it.)

Sherice, yeah it's tough...but it'll only take a day or two of staying away from it to get over it. The other thing (for me at least) is to get it all OUT of the house.

Literally, when I throw trigger foods away, I pour dish soap on them because I'm afraid just it being in the nasty trash won't be enough for me NOT to go dig it out . That's sad, sad, sad....but it's also reality. I am an addict and my trigger foods MUST be eradicated from my kitchen LOL

^That's not sad. There have been many times where I have DUG out garbage (literally and figuratively from the trash)to feed my addiction. Aaaaaand that is AFTER I have poured soap all over it.

Addictions suck!!! Argh! I have managed to stay away from the peanuts for two days...also there is no more peanut butter in the house..oh besides soynut butter...it has 1 net carb but it taste so bad....so needless to say, there is still almost a full jar after a month, as for the peanut butter...man, I was going through my purse and found the reciept from when I purchased it, and it was on the 17th...I finished the whole damn jar in 3 1/2 days!! What a disgrace...I didn't even realize it either.....So yeah no more peanut butter in my house until I can control the addiction!!!!

You're better off Sherice. It may not always feel like it...but it is. Are you noticing any difference in bloating or anything since cutting it out?

I am eating soynut butter right now.
                            2 tbsps has:
                            15g fat
                            9g protein

                            5g dietary fiber
                            1 net carb !!!! wooohoo.
                            its not that bad.
