  • question!

Ok here's my question. I eat ham, sausage, bacon, hotwings, etc etc etc and the sodium makes me bloat up a bit. Ordinarily I am 133 lbs (stuck there, not sure why, think my body is very happy at this weight, so I am just plodding along slowly, I am sure eventually I will win) but the last week I was at 138, then 137, now 136, I know alot of it is water weight. I drink enough water.

Will I still lose weight (fat loss) if I am working the plan, even though I am retaining water, or will the water retention make me hold on to the fat??

    Thanks!

    Re: question!

It will stall/slow what the scale says...and if your body is holding on to that water for the sodium, it can't really flush it out with the fat...right? (Old pros, help me out with this one...)

Bacon, ham, etc. should be eaten sparingly, a couple times a week for many reasons--the sodium, the sugars, the nitrates. Try cutting back on those foods and see if it helps.

How much water are you drinking? A good figure is 64oz. plus 8oz for every 25 lb. you want to lose...you should also drink MORE if you're a frequent exerciser or eating saltier foods.

      Re: question!

      good advice julie!

Maerow, if you are in ketosis, you are burning fat. Even if you are retaining water, that shouldn't change I'd think.

Sounds like you're in a place like me....close to goal, a place where the body is comfortable. I've not lost any weight since July, I go up and I go down, but usually stay about 197...HOWEVER there are lots of changes going on in my body. Not even so much being noticed on a tape measure, but I'm getting lots of compliments and you can see changes in photos. The body IS morphing...we just have to be patient. I guess these are the plateaus and stalls that people talk about.

I remember when my good friend iyamamaschke went through this same thing...and how I admired her perserverence. I think of her struggles when facing mine.

Yes, you'll still lose fat as long as you stay in that fat-burning state.

Last week was my TOM. I usually retain about 3-7 pounds of water but this time, I retained enough to see a difference in my inches as well (I gained 1 1/2 inches around my waist and hips!!!!!!) So I can just imagine how many water pounds I retained. This week, I'm urinating alot more and I've lost 1 1/4 of those inches so far.
