  • PRoblem...

Hello everybody I love the atkins diet, I've been doing it for more than 5+ years, however in a recent trip I quit doing atkins for a whole 2 months, ang gained 40 pounds back. Since then I've tried to lose weight BUT it seems that something strange has happened to me... I can't lose weight now... I've been doing the same steps since I learned this diet.

For some reason, I don't eat as much as before but I don't lose weight either. Im scared.

I need some advice. Some days I go 0 ZERO carbs to see if theres a change but very little, it's not good going zero carbs. I drink ONLY water.

    Re: PRoblem...

You sound like me, I have been on atkins for over three years. I initially lost 42 pounds and got down to 117. Then suddenly I put on 30 lbs and couldn't take the weight back off. I got frustrated and stopped doing atkins about 2 months ago and put on another 12 lbs. I bought another copy of the book (lost my first one or lent it to someone.) I am rereading the book this week since I have off from school and I am going back to the gym. My membership is paid until December 2007. All I can tell you is to follow the advise of the people on this forum. Going 0 carbs is not a good thing. You need your veggies. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. I plan on becoming much more active on this site, hopefully it will help. But for now, it is clean induction for two weeks, no caffiene or artificial sweetners (water only), and hopefully the weight will come back off...........Dawn

      Hi Daniel
      Welcome to our ADBB family.

Maybe you could list exactly what you are eating including quantities by meal so members can give you some input?

We have a special forum called 'Review My Menu' here where you can post.
      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=50

Also we have a forum especially for people like yourself who have been on Atkins previously so you can share those special problems 'second time around-ers' have
      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=82
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

        Re: PRoblem...

Okay, I will explain more in deep...

I used to weight 270 pounds 5 or 6 years ago ( I went down to 173 LB), I couldnt lose weight until I read the WHOLE book. I'm a man that eats a lot. I know exactly what I am doing, and Im pretty sure I am NOT mistaking, because I had been able to lose weight, after breaking the diet several times. I even wrote a summary with keypoints of the diet. However, the last 9 months I've been trying to stay away from gaining more pounds, that's after have gained 40+lb, I did stay away from sodas, white bread stuff like that, but I ate corn (tortillas), carrots and baked potatoes, and lots of fiber, and lots of water, I even cutback on splenda for months. I know it wasnt the right thing, but I managed not to gain a single pound more after those 40 gained. ( I felt that I wanted to stay there and eat more of these other foods I've stop eating for quite a while) Anyways, since then, I realized that Ihad to lose weight again (becauze i wanted to fit my size 32 PANTS again) I knew already what to do, my 2 week induction, all I needed to do is to cut back on the high carbs, like torillas, starchs things like that. but now its been almost 2 months and I've only lost 7 pounds that's about 3.5 lb a MONTH. THAT'S NOT right for me. I used to lose an average of 10 per MONTH!, (well sometimes was 7 lb other times 11lb), by the end of this month, It will be 2 months exactly, and still weight the same than 20 days ago. I remember buying those strips that changes color, I remember I was able to return to ketosis in 72 hours, over and over again, tipically every 6 months.

Another thing that I AM VERY WORRIED about it.
Is the amount of food I used to eat compared to now. Atkins books tell your that "basically" calories don't count. (Yes I know what you are thinkin)

Before I was able to eat 3 or 4 eggs w/ ham with lowcarb bread coffe in the morning for example in my induction period, and STILL I was abler to lose weight w/out a problem and I was hungry every 3 or 4 hours, I loved the scale going down, and down, (thats every 6 months I used to et off the diet) but now... 1 or 2 plain eggs ONLY for breakfast is enough and I get full, and I get hungry every 8 hours!!! what's up with that???, now I eat 1 or 2 MAX a day. That's super strange, I don't like feeling. I love eating!!

I forget to mention I AM ALSO doing excersice, lifting weight which I stop doing 2 years ago, but I am back on track again.

This is what I am doing right now...

(example) I dont eat the same thing every day but similar
Morning, at the Employees Dining Room: (9:30am)
1 Egg or 2 eggs, natural non processed salsa, (tomatoe, cilantro, chili, bit of onion), 2 glases of water.
If I feel hungrier, 1 egg, 2 slices of beacon, 1 sausage link 2 glases of water.
        no bread.

Since NOW i don't get hungry every 3 or 4 hours, but every 7 or 8 hours, when I get home I get a full dish, meat or salmon with sparragous, salad (plain with lemon) no dressing, even though that I am not that hungry otherwise I drink an ADVANTAGE STRAWBERRY drink, and keeps me full for another good 4 hours (which is strange because before it used to get me full for 2 hours), dinner, I eat something very simple IF i feel hungry. a Sandwish (lowcarb bread The one I've always used) with water OR lowcarb milk.

I remember driking a lot of non low carb beer while in the diet, and I was still able to maintain weight or even LOSE weight, I remember weigting 175 pounds, while in the final phase I introduced Tostadas (corn), Tortillas, anything made with Corn, even those low carb tortillas, low sugar cereals, baked potatoes, strawberries, lots of lowcarb bread, and low sugar jams, lowcarb icecreams, cheses...

lol thank you guys, sorry for my terrible spelling!!

        help!!!
