  • Tomorrow is the day and I'm ready...

The past few days have been spent reading - the book and this board. The fridge is stocked with enough food to get me through the first few days. And I admit I've spent the last few days eating some things that were sort of a "last fling". I didn't go crazy, but if I wanted it, I had a little. It's funny, knowing I was going to start Atkins and remembering how badly I want this to work helped keep those little last fling things to a minimum.

I even have my lunch for work tomorrow ready in the fridge - tuna mixed with some mayo and a cup of cucumber slices.

I really need this to work. It has to. No... actually *I* am the one who has to work. I know Atkins is the way to go.

    Wish me luck!

I'm sure you'll be one of those success stories very soon.
Being Christmas day, the board is very quiet, normally you'd have had plenty of people telling you that too... so.... Have a lovely day!

Sounds like you are on the right track Carina! I am new to this WOE myself but I truly believe that all it takes is a positive attitude, the DESIRE to be healthy, following the plan, preparation. Having foods on hand at all times that you can eat - also cooking ahead of time has been so helpful to me. I do a lot of cooking on Sundays so that I am ready to go for breakfast and lunch for about 4-5 days! Be sure to check out Linda's Low Carb recipes! The items with a * are induction friendly.

You will be AMAZED at the end of your induction at how amazing you feel!

Good Luck and I know these wonderful people at this board will all be behind you if you have any questions. They are the BEST!

Stella, thank you for your kind words. And wow! You've lost 25 pounds already - that's VERY inspiring to me! Thanks for the advice on cooking ahead. That's been a problem for me in the past. It's gotten way too easy to grab fast food or things that aren't good for me.

This recipe site is great! I can already tell eating low-carb is going to be much easier than I thought!

                  Thanks for the link, Elizellen!

Re: Tomorrow is the day and I'm ready...

Welcome, Carina. It sounds like you have a great attitidue, and are well-positioned for success! I encourage you to start a journal (see the Journal Chats forum). It's a great way to write about how you're doing and feeling everyday, and gives people a chance to get to know you better. It's also a nice way to help build a small but loyal group of ADBB buddies who watch out for you, and you for them.

Best of luck to you. I look forward to hearing of your progress. Some new folks come and go pretty quickly around here. I have a sense you'll be staying with us. Welcome again -- post often! If you feel tempted, come here instead. Just send up the "fat signal" and someone will swoop in and talk you out of it.

Thanks Betty and Adena. At first I was really scared about this, but I'm very excited to get started now.

I brought my breakfast of sausage and scrambled eggs, and lunch is tuna w/mayo and cucumber slices. It's just dawned on me that I'm going to be eating REAL food, and not all the processed junk that I've had for so long. One meal under my belt and I'm feeling better already!

Good luck on day 1! Glad you're feeling better already with your real food. Sooooo much better for you than processed stuff. A little warning 'just in case': If you start to feel not so good (headachy or generally poorly and listless) don't worry. It's quite normal for some people (thought not everyone) to get what we call 'induction flu' when your body weans itself off carbs. If you get a bout, rest assured it only lasts a few days... and then you'll probably wake up one day feeling brim full of energy.

                            Happy losing!
