  • I had a "moment" today!

Its Christmas (obviously) and yesterday I went for a shortish run (3 miles) before dinner. - Again, obviously, my meal was 100% legal.

Anyway this morning, I went out for a walk, and on my way home it dawned on me that this is the 3rd Christmas I have had since starting out on this WOE. Apart from a cheat on my first Christmas, everything has been plain sailing since. My moment came today, when it dawned on me that I have broken away from the old habits that I had, and a number of people (especially my family still have) - the need to stuff food down me for no real apparent reason (especially at this time of year). I realised today just how far I have come and that there is a lot more to life than food.

Every one, thanks for reading, and I am sorry if its a "me me me" thread, hopefully some one will get something out of this.

    Again, thankyou Mr Atkins!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes it's all about you Rich...lol..and that's ok!

I had a pretty good dinner yesterday, but I did go a bit overboard on the lasagna. Other than that nothing out of the ordinary. I also got my workout in yesterday, which is tough to do when you have a 5 year old tearing the place up in excitement.

Just a matter of focus and discipline though, right?

    Congrats and continued success.

Thanks for your post! I was just thinking about why I felt the need to cheat yesterday and how it absolutely wasn't worth it! I am able to hop back on the plan easily enough, but hope to someday eat the Atkins way always. Your post gives me hope!! Carbs taste good going down, but make me feel awful afterwards!! I cannot wait until I leave my old food habits behind too!

That's great. You really have done great. You know, I did my best earlier on Atkins during the holidays so I thought I would start again in December. I am so proud that even though there was tons of desserts and foods at my mother's house, I tried none of the desserts and kept my eating to a minimun and did just fine. Actually felt much better!

I only hope I can keep it up as well as you have. You have the right Attitude!

I seem to remember a post where you said you were going to try to start running - and you say "shortish" is three miles (over 4 km). That's a big accomplishment in itself.

I bet the person in the first photo of your signature couldn't do that!!

                    Thanks

Whenever I finish a long run (over 10 miles) I often look back and laugh to myself. The "old me" could never have done that, and if someone had said - 3 years ago that in 3 years time I would have entered and completed 3 half marathons there is no way I would have believed them.

Three Christmases is awesome Rich... and to have broken away from old habits is too. It's so wonderful the way this way of eating gets more 'natural' the longer you do it. This was my second Atkins Christmas, and now that you made me think of it, it really was much easier than the previous one.
