Re: Colon Cleanse
Well this is the age old question with so many things isin't it!? I did alot of reading up on cleansing diets. Now depending on which camp your with is going to drive the information. People who say they don't work, point to the fact that there is no scientific evidence that they do any benefit. Then again, cleansing has been around since the dawn of man. Here is a link to one forum that I was on trying to do my own research. There are alot of veterans on there and I found this site to be very useful...

Re: Colon Cleanse
I took it a long time ago, still have a bottle. My ex-gf used to be into taking this stuff, so I tried it once. It didn't do anything really. I think it worked worse than regular laxative. Just MHO.Higgies

Re: Colon Cleanse
I have been mulling the thought of getting a colonic. Kind of like a cleanse except from the other end. Those who have tried them sware by them and say they feel very energetic and almost euphoric after one. They are costly and need to be done by a certified specialist. So for now it is still a thought. But I may go for it after induction.

Re: Colon Cleanse
Wish I saw this sooner.
Unless there is a very good reason for colon cleansing don't do it!!!
People have died from colon cleansing.
Our intestines contain a mix of good and bad bacteria. The good bacteria keeps the bad bacteria from taking over. Colon cleansing usually removes both the good and bad bacteria. That leaves your colon wide open to infection by bad bacteria.
The most famous case of someone dying from a colon cleanse is retired Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Arturo Enrile. He died of multiple organ failure from food poisoning. He was a notorious health buff and engaged in regular colon cleansing. Unfortunately, the colon cleansing only served to weaken his resistance against bad bacteria from food poisoning.
The colon cleansing is mainly done as a procedure prior to any surgery involving the intestines.Robbie T., 240/180/160. 41yr Male, Height 5'9"

Re: Colon Cleanse
Since seeing these replys I have done sone internet investigating. There is no reason to get a colonic. The only websites that had something positive to say about them were the ones trying to sell something at the end of the article.

Re: Colon Cleanse
any type of laxative can mess up your electrolytes ..seriously ...even more so if you buy it in off the shelf as a "health" product ..since there is no regulation there is no safety net either ..
your body can and will take care of itself if you treat it right ..if you are having serious bowel problems see your health care provider
but teas...pills ....herbs....it is all risky expensive crap..
I will step away now ..good luck with whatever you choose

I hope I did not sound like a biitch about this ...I really do mean wellOriginally posted by Tracie515I think i choose not to! THanks for your input.
I freak out about this kind of thing because I believe the "supplement" "healthfood" industry has a good side and a bad side ..the bad side is when stuff like colon health is pushed ....
laxatives with out a really good reason for using them ..any kind can be dangerous ...
fiber is your friend
