  • Can I REALLY make this a WOL?

I have been at this for years, only to join the yo-yo dieting club. I want to lose this weight bad, and I'm allowing it to make me cave in. I DON'T like to interact with others much, I normally like to get my junk food and sit home. It's a NEW year and I feel that this is my time to get it right. It's just food, and I can still eat healthy food; that is good for me. The thought of having a nice T-bone steak with some stemmed shrimp is AWESOME. I will keep you all informed, as I start out tomorrow with a new zest!

    Where I'm headed to:

You can do it! The steaks are awesome! So are the veggies! I love this and it absolutely is my new WOL. Take a look at the exercise challenges! They are really fun and a supportive way to be motivated to get in the "non negotiable" exercise leg of this WOL.

      Congrats on the NEW YOU!!

Hey gorgeous! Arm yourself with the information of why those foods *supposedly* are comforting to you. It's a FALSE comfort. Fake, Two faced, back stabbing, lying, cheating, good for nothing Carbohydrates.

        Okay...*whewh* Joy calm down!

Anyway, I've found for me that reading what Dr. A has to say about insulin response and how our bodies behave physically and emotionally to that insulin response helps me get through it

Re: Can I REALLY make this a WOL?

It's amazing to me all of the foods we CAN eat...and I focus on that, rather than what I'm missing...or at least what I THINK I'm missing!

I get to eat shrimp with butter, cheesecake, filet mignon, cauliflower bake, spaghetti squash, pumpkin, wine, cashews, black beans, bacon, strawberries, mascarpone, etc...the list goes on and on!!! And I'm only on rung 6! I still get to add other fruits, starchy veggies, and whole grains!

Another thing I've noticed is that I can taste subtleties in food I've never tasted before, like the spiciness of celery, or the sweetness of pumpkin, or the richness of heavy cream. I feel like my senses have been awakened, and that I was never really able to taste food before because my tastebuds were so dulled by refined sugars and carbs!

My problem when I did atkins before is that I didn't understand it. Now that I understand it, I feel like this isn't a restrictive way to eat at all! And the way that the plan is designed helps us to get rid of cravings, helps us to control portions, and basically helps us learn the RIGHT way to eat--something I'm learning for the first time at 25! And yes, I still have set-backs...that's why this is a continual process, a way of life.

What a transformation looking at your siggy pics! WTG!

I find that rereading my book and staying near these threads keep me well informed and it makes you stay commited to this WOL. I love the way I feel in ketosis, and the energy one gains; is PRICELESS!

I'm back to make this WOE, a lifestyle change. NO MORE yo-yoing for me.

Thanks for posting Julie. Your post was very informational and inspirational. Thank you!

I too went in blind before, only to end up failing. This time I have more knowledge about this WOE, and it is NOT a QUICK fix. It is a WOL, that I have to get use too. I will make this WOE fun and experiment this go round. Best wishes to you with your journey.

Re: Can I REALLY make this a WOL?

Lynisha, forgive my bluntness, but I know no other way to say it:

                    DO YOU WANT TO???

                    That's really the question.

                    Here's what we know:

Atkins works if you stay on it.
Atkins does not work if you don't.
Atkins takes a 100% commitment from YOU, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Atkins gives you the ability to enjoy luxurious, satisfying, HEALTHY foods that not only help you lose the weight, but improve your health at the same time.
Atkins is not a diet; its a lifestyle CHANGE.
Success on Atkins takes discipline, determination and focus.

If you can't commit 100% to Atkins or any other lifestyle change, then, unfortunately failure is assured. Dr. Atkins said that we are NEVER cured of carb addition. Never. So decide for yourself if YOU WANT TO SUCCEED. Its as much a mindset as it is a choice.
