    Hi Everyone,
    We are having steak for dinner, and I am very excited, because I love steak. I also love A1, but a 3 carbs per Tablespoon, and sugar shown several times in the ingredients, I don't want it. Any ideas what to use instead?

    You could saute some mushrooms and onions in butter and you could top your steak with that. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm...

      I'm already doing that...but I'm kind of a freak for dipping. Maybe I'll use Ranch with some hot sauce in it. Sometimes I use that for salad.

        Ranch with hot sauce is excellent! You could also try to make your own A-1 sauce or BBQ sauce....tomato sauce, a little splenda, onion powder, garlic powder, a dash of vinegar, whatever other spices...search the internet for steak sauce recipes and substitute splenda where it calls for sugar.

        As you go and lose your sweet tooth, you probably won't need splenda to sweeten tomatoe sauce, I don't anymore. It's amazing how sweet things taste to me now, even "unsweetened".

          Oh, and I *love* a good horseradish sauce with beef. Ground horseradish, a little mayo and a little sour cream.

            Too late for dinner tonight, but I like Worchestershire sauce. Your favorite salad dressing would also work. Annie's makes a roasted red pepper dressing that I love to dip my chicken in, I bet it would be good with steak, too. I like to mix mayo and mustard together for my hrimp, that might also work for steak.

            So, what did you end up using?

              I ended up with Ranch and hot sauce...but I will totally do some looking for a good recipe for a low sugar barbeque or A1 type sauce. Thanks guys!!

                I love to dip my filets (rare, no seasoning or salt) in my Caesar or bleu cheese dressing. Or Ranch for that matter - whatever's around!

                  I found a South Beach Diet A-1 type steak sauce. It has 1gram of carb per serving of 1 tbsp. and less than 1 gram of sugars. It is almost identical to A-1 - even DH likes it. I use it once in a while with burger. I love my steaks plain!

                      FYI...Worcestershire sauce has molasses in it...not much, but it does.

                      My nephew loves A1...I don't get it, I'm a beef purist...unless it's a bad piece of meat...nothing should go on it! LOL I do however like some sauteed mushrooms and butter.

                        If they still sell Carb Options products in the US (they were discontinued here as our gov't banned anything that indicates 'low carb' on labels or in names), they made a steak sauce that tasted very similar to HP Sauce. It's the one Carb Options product that i really really miss.

                        I'm a fan of worcestershire on steak, though i know it does have carbs (not many), i just count them, and since it's so thin..i don't use much.

                        I also love horseradish with steak.

                          I got steak once at a restaurant and they had a huge glob of butter dumped right in the middle of it. Sounds gross but it was the best steak I ever had.

                            I put butter on steak all the time...


                            I like to make roasted garlic butter and put that on my steak actually. I love it.

                            But then I'll go to my parents' house for dinner and put a pat of butter on my chicken, and everyone thinks I've lost my mind.

                            Ah well.
                            No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

                              I mix some butter and sour cream together and dip my steak in that. I always did this when I had a baked potato with a steak, but now I just omit the potato.
