I was doing so well and yesterday was down to 139 and was soooo happy.

Saturday (our go out day) I was going to cook because we are having a ice storm in missouri but my husband said he thought the main roads would be ok so if I drove we could go out....We went to applebys and I really was proud of myself and thought I did good but something I ate did not agree and caused water or fat retention and I gained 1.4.

Last week at appleby's I had a brick chicken and I thought that was just way too much and I thought the salad had sugar on it so I got some ascia chicken with no potatoes and they gave me extra veggies instead.

It was a chicken breast with cheese sause and a small amount of diced tomatoes on top. The veggies was broccoli and zuchinni and carrots but I did not eat the carrots and gave my bread to my husband.

Last weeks's brick chicken only caused a .4 gain the next day.

I did have more carbs than normal becaiuse I was famished around 2 and had a small salad with cheese and cesaer dressing so the veggies at supper would have made my 3rd serving of veggies for the day when I usually only have 2. Plus tomatoes do cause problems for me but it was such a small amt that I did not think it would hurt. Or it could have been the cheese sauce -- who knows what was in.

plus--I have missed 2 Y days becasue of I ice storm and apt with trainer and sure hope I can get back to the routine tommorrow.

In any event it is back to the normal routine today to get back under 140.

    Thanks For listening.

Listen carefully STAY OFF THE SCALE! The scale can be our worst enemy. If you must weight pick one day and time a week.
The excess salt in restraunt food could be causing you to hold water.

I agree about the salt in restaurant foods. They will def cause you to retain. Drinks lots of water today and it should go away quickly.

HI, watch the "cheese sauce" on restaurant items as most use corn starch to make it creamier.I found that out last year when I dined out.I would always ask first before ordering, and stick to ceasar or blue cheese dressing, found most dont have any sugar.Hope this helps.

            Hi,

well yesterday I just had home fixed food (had no choice because iced in and got scared with I slid too much) and I lost 1 of those pounds back down to 139.4.

I am glad to know that about the cheese sauce so I will stay away from that.

I read a while back that Applebees inject their steaks with sugar - maybe they do the same with chicken?

              Hey Gang!
I have been "stalled" for about 2 weeks, not a change, none, zip, zilch, nadda!
SO yesterday I sat down and reexamined what I have been eating...the only thing that stuck out at me, was that in the past 2 weeks, things have been really busy and we have been eating out a lot. we have gone to applebees's. I have the same thing...salad dry, and a house sirloin with blue chees on it. Probably about 4 times wekk for the last 2 weeks, they are so good, I would order and extra to go and have it for breakfast the next day.

SO I get online at Applebees.com and look to see if there is something in those steaks that woulde be stalling me. Now I am thinking, unless there is some small amount of sugar inthe seasoning the steaks should be a no brainer. Well the web site says no nutritional info available.

I called corporate Applebees, and they tell me that I need to call the local restraunt to ask them to look on the box of staeks for the ingredents. I call the local resturant, and they go look. Not only is sugar the 2nd ingredent ( beef being the first ) but they are injected with a dextrose solution too!!! I am so angry!!! angry at myself for blindly thinking that a steak is a stek...and applebees for shootingit full of sugar!!!

                Thanks,

That is good information to know. We don't go to appleby's that much but every once in a while he likes to go.

You might want to get some ketosticks! You can obsess about the color like I do instead of the scale! (Tee hee!) I'm not totally joking though because this time I bought the ketosticks and I can tell when a food knocks me out of ketosis so I can avoid it in the future.

Applebees drives me insane. not to mention that they inject their meats with sugar.... last time I was there, they served me broccoli with crushed up croutons on top of it! *headdesk* Needless to say they are on my "do not go" list. Id rather hit the mexican place and get fajita meat and veggies

I cannot believe that someone would put sugar in steak. My husband who is also doing Atkins loves to eat at a great Mexican restaurant by us...they make this great steak covered with onions and butter....it is the best!

Applebees serves glorified airplane food. Most of the food is precooked and then microwaved when ordered. All the food is injected and supplimented with preservatives and sugar so it can handle the long travel time in the back of trucks and being frozen and thawed. I understand some neighborhoods may only have a few choices of eating out. Choosing to go out can be a challenge. Applebees is basically a sit-down MCDonalds with more stuff on the menu. Avoid when possible. Privately owned restaurants are your best bet. Chances are the meat and produce is local and fresh.
Chain restaurants do not use quality ingredients and make up for the taste with sugars.
