  • Atkins Log- Day 21 3 Week Weigh In

    Today was my 3rd offical weigh-in, day 21 of Atkins and ladies and gentlemen the offical weight for today is...................................

    259.5!
    YAY! Not too shabby, eh? Especially considering the scale was up to 268 at one point last week during TOM. How funny is it that even those it's a HIGH 250, I'm estatic to see that the 2nd digit is 2 whole numbers lower than before. From a 7 to a 5. I'm just thrilled that it's a 259 and not a 272 ! I feel a lot better today!

    Of course I hope that this isn't a fake weight, yesterday was the last day of TOM, so I did take a water pill because I was swelled up like a balloon so bad my fingers and feet hurt. I'm not sure how long those last, but that was yesterday and this is my weight today! So I will still be disappointed, but at least expecting it some if it raises this week a bit.

    I'm really beginning to be impressed with myself, still cheat free 21 days in! In my previous attempts to lose weight, I always looked for an excuse for an off-plan day or even weekend. I was constantly fighting myself.

    (Ok, so I totally added that last sentence just so I could have a reason to use that adorable smiley.)

    A birthday, an event, a gathering, all were good reasons for me to stray from my WOE as far as I was concerned, and I no longer do that.

    I made it thru my brother's birthday at my favorite Chinese Buffet, several dinner nights out, and this Sunday is our 3 year anniversary together, and we STILL have no plans of straying! We will be visiting a new found Mongolian BBQ, and catching a flick! If I stretch from my usual at all, it may be having a few Rum & Diets, and even that is a big maybe.

    This time it's going to happen, I know it.


    By the way, I know a good percentage of you people reading this are guests, and not ADBB members, what are you waiting for? JOIN US! hehe!

          Congratulations! I just finished 21 induction days too, and am marching on!! You are doing so GREAT! How encouraging it is to see a change like that. It's so affirming to see the scale move, AND also pretty neat to start to "feel" thinner in your mind and body--- and in the way jeans and clothes fit.

          What's really amazing to me is---after "low fat" diets all these years---that the food is great and abundant in this way of eating. I smile every time I enjoy a piece of bacon or steak without guilt.

          You should be REALLY proud of yourself!!!

            Ahlia, great job! I wanted to ask if you think that if you did have some rum, that would be a trigger. I know that vanilla vodka and diet vanilla pepsi is a BIG trigger for me. Although I haven't had any vodka since 09.24.06 and counting.

            Anyway keep up the good work and stay strong!

                    Thanks!! Rum won't be a trigger for me , I've never been a big drinker, and when I do like to drink, rum and diet is NOT my choice, I don't care for the taste. I like those fruity foo foo drinks that I can't have anymore... LOL Vanilla rum would taste better, but I was under the impression that flavored liquers are a no no because of sugar, is that true?

                      Ahlia, congrats on your loss--that is absolutely fabulous!!!

                      I remember reading somewhere that the flavored vodkas (like smirnoff vanilla, raspberry, etc.) had no carbs. Clear spirits are basically carb free, unless it's something really sweet like pineapple or coconut rum or something else nasty. I'm not a frufru drink girl either. Give me a scotch and soda and I'm happy. You can go to the websites and check nutritional info if you're interested in something flavored. If not, vodka, rum, whiskey, tequila are basically carb-free. HOWEVER, you must burn off the alcohol first before you switch to fat burning, and this can really stall some people. I stalled for days afterwards. Another bad thing about alcohol (for me anyway) is that it makes me want to eat and eat, even if I'm not neccessarily hungry. So you might think about waiting for a drink at least until you get to Rung 5.

                        Thank you for the congrats! I'll have to check on the carb and sugar contents because I prefer flavored clear liquer. I've never had any problem with alcohol making me want to eat or causing any cravings. I do know that the alcohol will burn first, but at most I would have 2 drinks, I'm a lightweight! LOL
