  • Need Some Suggestions !!!!!!!!!

    Ok, been doing atkins since last April and started out ok, with a 17lb lost in about 3 months or so. I did get down to 198 in July but since than my scale has gone from 200-208 back and forth, yet I am not cheating.I added strawberries and some nuts over the summer, but since coming back here I have removed it except yesterday when I had some berries cos they looked so good.
    Now I am starting fresh with no berries or anything not allowed during induction, is there any reason I am not loosing like everyone else?I am stuck at this weight and dont know why.
    I am 37, female, 5'8, started at 217.5, am currently holding at 202lb and been on atkins for 10 months. I work out 2-3 times a week on my eliptical and bike (roughly 30 minutes).
    I will post a menu, but I have been doing this for so long, that I Know what I am eating is all acceptable and nothing to stop me from loosing.
    ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS??????

        Ok, I wrote down what I ate today, and will post all 3 days on Monday, so I can give you a better idea of what I am talking about.
        I thought thou, that berries were only for maintaining........I thought they might be the problem.No?

          Berries aren't only for maintenance. They're on an OWL rung, so some people can lose weight while eating them, while others may have issues... which can be resolved by working out more, etc. It could be that you're eating too many calories if you're watching out for hidden carbs and are sure you're not eating them...

            I have a feeling I am eating too much.Today I had the following:
            Breakfast: 2 eggs in butter with 1/2oz cheese and 1tbs sugar free w/splenda ketchup

            snack:
            150grams sliced hot genoa salami

            lunch:
            10 slices of lean Canadian bacon in butter

            snack
            1oz cheese

            dinnermade the deep dish pizza recipe)
            These supposedly gave me around 5-6 carbs

            I did have 3 diet caffeine free sodas
            1 decaf coffee with 2 cream and 1 sweetner
            1 bottle water ( I know.......I just hate water.......any ideas)?

            Anyway, if you can help, that would be great...........am I eating too much?

              Hi Diva, your menu looks yummy, but where are your veggies? You need to have two cups of salad veggies and one other cup of induction approved veggies every day. This will give your body much need vitamins and minerals. Maybe you aren't eating enough?

              I LOVE salami as well, but I steer clear because of it being cured in sugar. If you are unsure about the carb content than maybe you can ask your deli if you can see the nutritional info on an unopened package of whatever meats you are buying. I found a german salami with no carbs and no questionable ingredients, but it is made in a mennonite community near my home.

              It doesn't look like you are eating too much to me. I am relatively new but I know one thing for sure. I hate water too, but when you avoid it you are depriving your body of a vital substance that supports all of the cellular functions in your body. Especially fat burning and flushing ketones out of your system. Maybe just add a slice of frozen lemon or lime slices to a glass with ice for a taste on the water to make it more palitable. Have you tried buying ketostixs to measure if you are burning ketones? THey are available at the drug store and will give you an idea if you are in fat burning mode.

              Anyways, I hope the suggestions I have given are of some help. And I tend to ramble on so if this post is too long......forgive. K?

                Without the veggies you will not loose. Your system needs the vitamins and nutrients they give. How about some celery sticks or a great taco salad without the shell. Put the mixture on a bed of shredded lettuce. Yum.

                Also you need tro drink the water to get the toxic stuff out of your body. Try putting some flavoring into your water. It may help.

                  I agree...definitely more veggies. You absolutely need those minerals and vitamins!
                  Careful of salt intake too (as well as additives), if you eat a lot of bacon and salami etc.

                    HI all, thanks for your imput. The geneoa salami is carb free based on the packaging, so I didnt think it would be a problem and I also get the hot one cos they tend not to have any added sugar.
                    I did have veggies, they were on the pizza. I had tomatoes, onion, olives and green peppers.
                    I do normally have a salad everyday, just hectic that day and didnt get a chance to make one.
                    So other than that and the added water ( how much should I drink each day in 500ml bottles?) I am ok? Not too much meat or food?
                    I have been stuck since July of 2006, so you can see why I am frustrated.Most people who are on here and weight more than 200lbs loose quite quickly, yet my body doesnt seem to want to let it go.
                    Now I know I can loose, I have great sucess with Bernsteins, but wanted to do a program thats a WOL , instead of a quick fix, but 7 months with no weight loss is a bit much.

                      Hey ther diva, have you read the chapters in Dr. A's book on metabolic resistance? Only you know what is going on with your foods so it really is up to you checking it all out with his advice. One thing I thought about as well, have you been eating enough calories for your activity level? go to www.fitday.com and check out your intake. Maybe you need to mix it up a bit too, try a different exercise plan and maybe go up a rung or two into OWL. Add new veggies and cheeses, and see if it can shock your system out of this rut. As for water, you need a minimum of four 500ml bottles each day on any diet, and 250mls extra for every 25-50 lbs you want to lose. Bigger bodies need more water. You can tell if you are getting enough by the colour of your pee (sorry if this is too much info but....) It should be clear or very pale yellow and have no smell. Let me know how it goes.
