  • Sun Flower Seeds

    Hi,

What experience do others have with sun flower seeds?

I had some macadamian nuts friday and they were ok for me. Then yesterday I purchased more plus sun flower seeds and prob ate way too many.

My day was goofed up due to a family get together at almost my normal bedtime but I tried so hard and brougt some of my own food and skiped the cake and everything.

Anyway the scale was 1.8 higher today and not sure what cased it.

Maybe it was the 2 diet cokes I had or all the sun flower seeds or no telling what she put in the fajita meat that I put on my lettuce. Or it could have been that I did not drink as much water.

I do think part of it was all the sun flower seeds becasue I did a lot of munching on those due to the eating later and the goofed up schedule.

    Bye cindy

cindy it could have been all of the above. I would pre measure them before you eat them again. Also remember they are usually highly salted which could cause you to be up

I can't remember which brand...maybe David's...that coats their sunflower seeds with starch or flour in order to help the salt stick better.

Also, those seeds are pretty carby for their amount: 5 net carbs of them is only 1 ounce or roughly a 1/3 cup. And it's sooooo easy to over-eat them due to their small size.

I think sunflower seeds are a great snack! If you shell them yourself, you've got better portion control. I love Frito Lay's tube package. It's only ingredients are sunflower seeds and salt. They have 2 net carbs per package and take a very long time to eat.

And there are even non-salted and non-fried ones out there! Some started growing in our compost after I had thrown them away

          Oh I LOVE sunflower seeds!
Ahem... I meant ... I did love them and I'll love them again in few weeks, on proper rung Right now I avoid loving them

            Hi,

well I did better on the seeds today but not better on the nuts. I guess it was a bad idea to buy them. I prob had 2-3 oz today and charged myself but that still does not help. I read the book on nuts and it said they are easy to overeat and that is sure the case with me.

I am feeling like a pig and hope to get back on the right path and not have the nuts.

            thanks for all the replies.

I call them my "Slow-Mo Nuts," because one 16-carb bag will last me for longer than entire movie. If you don't have a whole lot of "carb room" toward the end of the day and are craving something crunchy and very healthy, these are just the best!!
