Atkins bars tend to be rather controversial on this board...some people use them...most people are advocates against them. Best advice I can give is read the ingredients and make sure all of them are suitable for the rung of OWL you're on and give it a try if you really are in an emergency situation where you need to eat one. If you find yourself stalling when it comes to weight loss they are usually the reason.

As for how often...Dr. Atkins said they are for use in emergency situations only. They are expensive and eating large amounts of sugar alcohols can have a diuretic effect...I've used them without problems, but results are not typical so pay attention to how they effect your body/cravings.

    Best of luck!

Jace wrote some good & important points, so I won't reiterate them. I will add, however, that if you can eat real foods, that's the route you should go. But, let's say you're on the road and either don't have room or chose not to bring a cooler of food...I think an Atkins bar is a far better alternative than to resort to fast food.

I'd go for real foods unless in an emergency.

I find those to be a terrible craving trigger for me. Some people say they have no problems with them, but I am staying faaaaaaaaaaaar away personally. LOL
I'm trying to keep things as basic as I can and stay away from any products for a while.
I'd tuck them away for an emergency , it's quite easy to get hooked on them and end up with a slower loss than possible.

What ingredients are in them? Make sure you are at the OWL rung that includes all of them before including them in your eating plan.
So if they contain grains amongst other foods they will not be 'legal' till you reach the grains rung, but if they contain no grains (wheat/rice etc) but do include soya they would be 'legal' for the legumes rung of OWL. If they contain no grains or soya but do contain nut flours then they would be 'legal' once you reach the nuts/seeds rung.
I would not suggest eating more than one a day.
As for their carb counts - if they give you the 'bathroom effect' then you probably can deduct the sugar alcohol carbs but if you have no gastric problems from eating them you really ought to count all the sugar alcohol carbs as your body is processing them as normal carbs, not passing them through you undigested as is claimed for the low 'effective carb' count.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                Yeah...don't believe everything you read.

Take the proverbial grain of salt and throw it in there while remembering that this company wants to move its product to the largest consumer demographic possible. I use them when I travel. Otherwise they don't save me any time over a hard boiled egg or precut turkey slices or whatever.

                Be careful.

                  But what ingredients are listed?
As far as I know NONE of the commercially available lowcarb bars contain only induction allowed ingredients!!

                    Re: atkins bars

Just a quick look-up on the ingredients on the Almond Brownie ingredients...the package says "Contains: MILK, SOY, ALMONDS." None of which are induction friendly...those 3 ingredients alone are listed on the labels of almost all of the different type of Atkins bars that I've seen including the chocolate chip granola bars, and all of the Morning Start bars contain Milk and Soy at the minimum...

I have to admit that I'm guilty of having a few during induction. I just had to have something sweet, that reminded me of "candy". Although, I didn't really eat that many candy bars in the past.

I did manage to drop 5 pounds during induction.
