How can one tell if all they got is fat on there chest or is it male breast which needs surgery?

if there is no fat anywhere else on your body - it may be breast. ask a doctor
if you have excess weight - I would say lose it and then you'll see.

gynochomastia, if that is really what it is can be diagnosed by doctor and there are medications for it such as tamoxifen that can reduce them. In extreme cases where some men have naturally high estrogen levels there may need to be surgury.

breast tissue in men has a startling high occurence rate, especially in the past few decades where the meat in the United States is fed with so many hormones.

I would ask your doctor, on your next visit. He'll be able to do an examination, which could help differentiate between the two.

If it is not breast tissue, he can help recommend exercises to focus on the fat. If it IS breast tissue, he can offer interventions. Many insurance companies cover the cost of breast tissue reduction in men.

I don't know the answer... BUT I just saw this on the news yesterday.... apparently parents who use lavendar products on their son have been noticing breast tissue forming on the son. A study was done and it was confirmed.

And I use lavendar body wash and lotion on my 7 yr old son. I quit it as of yesterday though.

So if you use anything with lavendar, quit. I use it daily, but since I'm a female who cares.

I did read the headlines yesterday about the lavander and causing breast tissue in males. As a female, I would worry about cellular changes in the breast. I wouldn't use it at all if it is causing this change in boys. I have a friend who swears that using antipersperants are causing the high rates of breast cancer. She only uses all natural antipersperants. It something I don't think we will ever know............Dawn

what I'm sure of is that male breasts need surgery.. My brother did it last Januar (2006) and he's so glad he did. at first he thought it was just fat but he was just 10-20 pounds over weight.. he lost it and toned his body (even got six-packs) but the brests were there, and he was very self-aware of it! He went to the doc and on the following weekend he did the surgery.
