  • What do you all do when you get 'sweet' cravings?

Every once in awhile it hits me and I start to fantasize about a nice piece of chocolate. What do you do to deal with your cravings for sweets? I'm not really into eating anything with artificial sweetners because I find I get headaches from them.

    Any ideas much appreciated!

Edited too add: My co-workers just placed this big honkin box of chocolate covererd cookies in our kitchen and I walked by. Now I want to cry

Try plain avocado! Haas is my favorite, especially if still firm but not hard.

High fat snack usually kills it for me. egg salad, cream cheese, something like that. Guacamole would probably be a good one too.

Try whipping some cream with splenda and cocoa powder, it tastes like chocolate mousse and gets rid of my sweet cravings. The cream fills you up and the splenda and cocoa makes you think you've had ur chocolate fix.

Some people find eating something like a pickle makes that sweet tooth shrivel away!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I carry IceBreaker sours with me so if I get hit hard with a craving, I can put something flavorful in my mouth right away. But that may not work for you if you don't do artificial sweetners.
At home, I blend a big glass of water and two ice cubes with:
1 T. sugar free pudding mix
                1 T. heavy whipping cream

A pack of splenda is optional, it tastes good without. I make sure I measure the mix so I don't go overboard, and I don't have this everyday. You can do this with the butterscotch and the other pudding flavors, too.

I went to the pharmacy last night and stood in the candy aisle looking at all the sugar-free candy, pouring over the labels. Still carby and still likely to set off cravings. I didn't buy any.

Flax seems to kill my TOM cravings pretty good. Mixed with sour cream or mascarpone. mmmm

This is great! also decaf coffee with cream and some cheese (not mixed in ) - help me with my evening 'treat' mentality.

One of the hospitals I go to for work has a doctor who will bring in gourmet cookies or a homemade banna bread or some kind of treat. He brings these treats to our office, and I would like to add there are only four of us in the office. He just likes us. Anyway, the ladies I work with know that I am watching my carbs, but they always offer me these goodies. I just tell them no thank you I am watching my weight. If the cravings get to be too strong, I love cakes and cookies and candies and anything that has sugar, I go to the cafe and get peanuts, the one once bag and eat them. I am on OwL. Good luck. Maybe bring some small blocks of cheddar cheese...Dawn

Mmm ya'll are making me hungry!! lol

I usually have cream cheese w/ some sf vanilla syrup mixed in... or whipped cream made w/ whipping cream, cream cheese (just a little) and sugar free vanilla - and/or sugar free jello... Sometimes I'll have berries or apple slices with the whipping cream but it's hard to not eat too much so I try to stay away from that!!
When I can't satisfy my sweet tooth with just a little I'll have a pickle or a few olives or some cheese... and LOTS of water, soon the cravings go away...

Thank you, Sadie. I'm in OWL and I'm being careful.
I'm fortunate that this doesn't set off cravings for me. Two days a week I schedule an hour and a half, very intense workout, and this is a nice, cool reward afterwards.
