Originally posted by TreyaniWell, kind of.....I need to lose weight fast, and I heard the atkins does, but is it only water weight the first two weeks?
Ok gotcha ..honestly I think if you want to loose weight fast and only do something for two weeks..this is probably not for you
this is more for folks who want to loose weight and change their lifestyle to keep from gaining it back ...
hope this helps

Re: Atkins Question!
So...are you wanting to lose weight for 2 weeks then gain it back? Just trying to figure out where you are coming from. The initial "water weight" loss comes from people being carbed up and their cells retaining water....I lost 8 pounds the first two weeks, that was probably water weight, then next 102 pounds were not water weight......but even if it were water weight....guess what, that would be 8 pounds less water I was carrying around. All diets start with an initial "whoosh" and then the wt loss steadies out.Christa
An excuse is just a way to justify what we wanted to do anyway....so, what's your excuse?

Re: Atkins Question!
Treyani, I noticed from a past post that you say you are 13 yrs old. I wouldn't recommend trying to lose a large amount of weight quickly on a crash diet in 2 weeks at any age, but especially at 13.
I would highly recommend you speak to your Dr. At 13 your body is still growing, and you need all of your nutrients. In your 'review my menu' post you are eating only boiled eggs, water and pork chops. This is not a healthy diet plan and is definately not Atkins.
Good luck.

Re: Atkins Question!
If that's the case then I lost over 100 pounds of water weight and went from a size 26 to a size 10.Originally posted by TreyaniIs it even worth getting on the atkins? Anyhow, if you are 13 years old, it would be in your best interest to be evaluated by a doctor. Overweight in kids (which you still are) has a different set of issues than overweight in adults. For one thing, adults have stopped growth and development...young teens, like you, have not.
Also there are other causes of overweight that are NOT due to over-eating and lack of exercise. These medical causes have to be ruled out by a physician.
And finally, if you have seen a physician and that person advised you and your parents that you must lose weight, go back to that physician and ask for a nutritional referral to the nearest hospital or wellness clinic. Again, weight loss in kids is a different thing than weight loss in adults.
Good luck to you.
