  • Question For The Pro's

today is Day 3 for me... BUT... ive been feeling a little funny lately, so i went to see my Dr. yesterday and found out i have an AWFUL UTI (nothing to do with Atkins) i am going to be taking an Antibiotic called Keflex 3 times a day until Sunday 2/11/07 and he also told me to wash it down with Cranberry Juice every time just to help clean my urinary tract... so i have decided to make Monday 2/12/07 my new Start Date, but eat as well as i possibly can this whole entire week anyway... even though i am not eating alot, because i feel ill and do not have any appetite... but when i DO eat, i will eat LEGAL foods... do any of you think this would be wrong? do you think i should wait until the NEXT Sunday which would be 2/18/07 just to let the Antibiotic get out of my system? or should i just go right back into it on Monday 2/12? any advice would be truly appreciated. Thanks! Taj

I would definately keep up with this woe for now. why wait? You are better off eating the healthier atkins legal foods than completely going off and binging due to being on antibiotics. You can take antiboitics and do this woe, there is no reason to stop.

As far the cranberry juice, I had a bad UTI last year, and told my dr that I preferred not to drink the cranberry, she said no problem that I should take the cranberry in pills, which is what I did...and it cleared up without issue. Perhaps you could try that.

The cranberry supplements are a lifesaver! That way you can take them any time, and still count your water as your daily intake. I keep cranberry supplements on-hand at ALL times, in case I feel a "twinge" of an infection. They are safe and easy to take.

Go for it! Don't let this be a reason not to get started!

You have been given excellent advise!

Also, be aware that some antibiotics can knock some people out of ketosis. So, just in case it happens don't fret! You can still lose and have great success!!
