Ok, I am new at this and I have a few more questions. I am trying to use the fitday thing. This morning, I at 3 eggs with butter and it gave me 2 carbs, I thought eggs didnt have carbs. Then for lunch, I ate a cub of sliced dill pickles with jalapeno juice. The pickles said no carbs, but when I added it ti fitday, it gave me 6 carbs? Why is that. ALso, I need a snack that I can eat without any limits, if you can think of any. Also, can I drink decaf tea with splenda, and if so, how much per day. I am trying to cut out the diet sodas because of the aspartame or whatever, thanks in advance.

Re: Newbie, need some advice on some foods
Yes, eggs do have carbs - .6 so your three were 1.8 and rounded to 2...some people count them as 1 per egg just to be safe. If you have the label from the pickles you can enter it as a custom food. The difference on the fitday could have been the serving size - double check that you entered it correctly, I can't get a standard dill pickle entry to show 6 carbs for a couple of slices - so just check that to be sure you didn't accidentally add a cup of dill
pickles.
As for unlimited - there isn't really anything that is truly unlimited but water. Everything else is limited in the sense that you are trying to maintain proper ratios of 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs. It's hard to go crazy on anything and make that work. You'll soon experience the benefits of ketosis. I sometimes forget about food completely until I am reminded by the clock that it's been six hours since I have eaten. Drink lots of water!
Your splenda (or any artificial sweetener) servings are limited to 3 per day. So, if you use three packets in a cup of tea, that would be your daily limit.
good for you for ditching the diet soda! A clean induction will be well worth the effort!
And, welcome to

Re: Newbie, need some advice on some foods
So then as to drinking stuff, the only thing I can drink is 3 serving of splenda and water? because there isnt anything in the world to drink! Do proteins take away the carbs. Like say I ate 20 carbs plus 8 proteins, would that then count as 12 carbs for the day or still 20?

Re: Newbie, need some advice on some foods
If your other drinks are sweetened, then yes, you can have three servings of sweetener per day. That won't necessarily translate in to three drinks, though. If a bottle of splenda sweetened diet tea is 16 oz and says it's 2 servings, then that's two of your 3 servings. Does that make sense? Drinking enough water is critical to this WOE. A good rule of thumb is 64 oz. PLUS another 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you need to lose. The great thing is, after getting all of that in, there isn't a whole lot of room for too many other drinks and you will not really want them that often. So then as to drinking stuff, the only thing I can drink is 3 serving of splenda and water? because there isnt anything in the world to drink!
No, protein doesn't get deducted from the carb counts. You CAN deduct FIBER from total carbs, though.Do proteins take away the carbs. Like say I ate 20 carbs plus 8 proteins, would that then count as 12 carbs for the day or still 20?

Re: Newbie, need some advice on some foods
Kylie gave you great advice.
Remember that aside from carb count, your appetite is what limits legal foods. You should eat only to saisfy hunger, no more. For some, that takes a little self-training (myself included).
If you drink decaf tea or coffee remember to count the carbs (yes... tea and coffee do have carbs).
Hang in there, you can do this! Before and after:
