  • Hardee's Low-Carb meals

    Hey all,

When I was dieting in the past, I used to eat Hardee's Low-Carb Burgers and Breakfast bowls. I would also have chicken strips and Southwest chiken salads... Well I just learned that the strips have 45 carbs... I was thinking WTF is in that coating?! Also... The salad has 26 carbs so perhaps that is why I was held back on a platau for a time!

As for the burgers and the breakfast bowls... They only have 5 or 6 carbs each... But I am just curious... Do you still think it is safe to eat these foods? It is the only fast food I can get at the moment and no matter what, my father won't give that up...

    Thanks,

    -N-

I have trouble eating out. I will order what I think is a real low carb meal of just meat and salad or veggies and will still wake up with a 2 pound gain the next day.

As long as you can identify meat as just the meat, cheese, eggs and salad parts likewise as such, you should be safe.

IMHO, fast food places put something in a lot of their foods which is intended to stimulate your appetite so quickly you can't help but go back to the counter for more! LOL

I for one think that first and foremost you need to set yourself up to stick with this plan. So if eating at Hardee's fits with your lifestyle and you want to keep low-carb as part of your lifestyle, do what you need to do to make them compatible with each other.

I think it's important to make eating well a thing you do automatically, and therefore, I believe it's important to make it something you can do anywhere and with anyone. My advice would be to eat the best food you can have at Hardee's. Learn to work your way of eating in every environment possible. Set yourself up to succeed no matter where you end up eating.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

One thing to remember about Hardee's, that is not 100% ground Angus Beef. Oh yes it is mostly beef, however, it has fillers, I used to work there years ago, and read the ingredients on of the boxes...I was shocked. I thought hamburger was hamburger...well in the fast food industry, hamburger is a little of this and that and oh yeah....beef. I'm not going to lie, I've had the low carb burger (make sure you say no KETCHUP, cause they soak it in the stuff...) but only when I'm on the run....and no time at all to stop and cook.

I'm pretty sure that is the only....low carb item on the menu. Everything, and I mean everything is either breaded or fake. They use a liquid margarine (not butter) to spray on the grill to cook those wonderfullly awful..yes...fake eggs. Once again, not 100% egg, fillers. I swear I read the bag!

And the bacon crumbles they use (they do use real bacon too) but for the breakfast bowls they use a mixture of bacon and baco's. Look up Baco's..modified starch, flour, flavoring, red dye #3, everything a growing boy needs to turn into a Mutant. haha.

Sorry to burst your bubble. You're better off making your own at home!!

          Sorry!

            Thanks for the heads-up scooter!

I always ask for the low-carb burger with no ketchup... It says 5 carbs on the site, but after reading what you just wrote... I am unsure of how true that can be!

            Thanks again,

              Good Morning Everybody,

I was asked to shed a little more light on this subject in the Restaurant forum, if you're interested. I tried to add a little more detail.

              Thanks,
