    big plans

    hi all!

please bear with me as this might be lengthy. i was on an atkins BB several years ago and can't find it again so perhaps this is the same one, just a different look. i am NOT a tech wizard so all the little gadgets and gizmos that look so cool are pretty overwhelming to me! i could use all the help in that dept. there is.

well....long story short. four years ago last christmas my now ex waked out .two weeks after that my mother passed away. due to stress i started losing weight. when it stabalized, i started using the atkins techniques i had used before and all total, lost almost 70 pounds.

a year ago i met my prince..and he is a prince. i would not trade him for anything. we are getting married this june. in my happy state i got lazy and put on about 25 pounds. needless to say, i want to drop these for my wedding. i do not believe in quick fixes. i did it the hard way before! but i have 4 months to lose that 25 pounds. with all i went thru and my dream day and life before me, i want to feel and look my very best.

i started induction today. last time i did, i did experience ketosis but it did not seem consistant. perhaps the sticks were too old. does anyone know if that makes a difference? also is there a best time of the day to check? i have the book. it is dogearred but i am re-reading it again today. the page of "foods allowed" is copied and on the fridge. i exercise 3-4 days a week....drink the water....please keep your fingers crossed for me. it matters not to him at all but i want to look and feel like the woman he met and fell in love with. i am doing this for ME. i want to feel fabulous in my fabulous new life....

i would truly appreciate any and all pointers from the pros!
    thanks!!!

    Hi Misplaced Southerner!

    Welcome (possible back) to ADBB.

It sounds like you have a great attitude and know what you're doing. Congrats on finding yourself a lovely man

I wouldn't say I'm a pro but I would say for me the key has been exercising regularly - that way I lose faster, feel better and more conntected to this WOL. Joining a challenge is a great way to get some accountability.

Best of luck with it all

Oh how wonderful! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

My best advice to you is to keep it up and exercise, exercise, exercise along with (of course) staying true to your eating regimen! The wedding photos and your guests don't know the numbers on your scale, but it is entirely possibly to lose fewer pounds and still look fantastic if you are working it at the gym/outside/at home.

While you're making this big commitment to him, you might as well make a commitment to better nutrition and fitness.

Glad to have you on the boards!

thanks to all of you for your encouraging responses! my biggest obstacle is my own lack of patience (and my poor techie skills to navigate this site!)

i enjoy seeing all the messages of success. it is good motivation. after reading my message, do you experts believe i have a realistic goal?

one of the millions of reasons i love my guy is that he loves ME......as i said. this weight loss is for ME as i remember how GREAT it feels to wear those size 6 jeans and have tons of energy...that is my motivation! i will continue to check in and learn from you pros~

by the way,,,where do i find the graphics for my weight loss scale?

Congrats on your wedding. I too am back a second time because I fell in love. I met my husband when I was nice and trim and on maintenance. Well that went to heck in a handbasket. Dinners out, wine, desserts, who cares, I am in love..lalalalalalala. Well after three years on not caring and still being in love I put on a nice 35 + lbs. But here I am today and it is coming off and I feel great. My husband is so supportive since he put on some love pounds too. We are both working together on getting back in shape (though he is choosing another plan). Good luck to you!

I love these kind of stories, proof that life is great and worth living !!
Welcome back to the board (for both newbies)
On your question for the ketosis, I never ever seen a ketostick upclose and I wouldn't worry about it too much, it only indicates you are or are not in ketosis and if you are it is not yet a proof that you are actually losing bodyfat (only indicates you are losing fat, could also be from the bacon you just ate) on top of that, it doesn't matter what color it shows, any color means ketosis.
I also think you need to be eating low-carb a couple of days untill ketosis kicks in, so the first days you won't be able to see anyway.
Good luck on the losing and I do think your goal is realistic, indeed also pay attention to what changing said, the numbers don't count, the look is what does it !!!

                    Re: big plans

it is so nice to hear from all of you today! and yes, (in response to one of you)...my life IS proof that good things do happen. you know, i truly believe that everything happens for a reason. god had something wonderful for me in mind but.....one has to learn to love oneself FIRST. life is good.

i will continue to play with this site til i can find my way around (what is a stickie?)...please be patient. i'll get it? in the meantime i will pick your brains and when i have my own expertise to share, i will be happy to do that

almost thru day 1 with no cheat...like everything else, i will take this one day at a time!

                      Re: big plans

A sticky is the thread that stays at the top of a forum because of all the useful info it contains. If you go to the forums page and select any forum they are the ones at the top.

Often when I've had a question I can find what I need in one of these. FAQ (along the top) is also really useful. But if you can't find something or need clarification post and ask - people are happy to help

Well done for taking this one day at a time and getting through the first.

                        Hey!

Looks like we are in the same boat, my wedding is in July, and I am doing this for the same reason. I find the wedding is great motivation....I keep picturing not only how I want the day to go....but how I want to look! Good Luck to you!
