  • Dont Get Discouraged if You Lose Slow

My second time around has been slow going. But I decided since I wasn't gaining, and I was enjoying the food and the benefits of ketosis I figured I would just stay the course and see how things would turn out. Yesterday I had a few people tell me I look great. That I look thinner. Sunday i got into a pair of jeans I haven't gotten on in 6 months. And this morning as I put on my gym clothes I looked in the mirror and I look thinner and shaplier. Now the scale has not been reflecting this so much. Thank goodness I haven't been weighing myself a lot or else I would have probably quit by now. My next weigh in is March 5th and thats okay by me. My rewards are evident when I can wear old jeans and get a smile when I look in the mirror. Here is what else I would like to add, I have followed the rungs and I am on the berry rung now. I have really enjoyed adding new foods and dont think I could have held on if I just stayed with induction foods. I have skipped ahead and had wine occasionally which was just a personal decision for me. I added it after week 4 and drink it once a week.
If it is coming off slow dont worry it is coming off. Enjoy the ride.

So happy you're enjoying Atkins and moving in the right direction. Awesome. I agree wholeheartedly about OWL... it's so enjoyable to add new foods, almost as if they are treats or rewards, when in actual fact we get to continue eating them as long as they don't disagree with us. Too many people are afraid of OWL, which is a great pity. Too long on induction has tripped up plenty and caused nasty falls from the wagon.

Love your "just enjoy the ride" philosophy!

LuckyD--I'm so glad you're enjoying this WOL! You've got a great mindset and attitude about it--enjoy the ride, enjoy the foods, take your time. Weight that comes off slowly is more likely to be kept off permanently, anyway! Enjoy those skinny jeans, and enjoy that glass of wine!

I'm so excited to see a post like this here!! This is the kind of mindset that sets you up to succeed.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

        Vigilance, not perfection.

LuckyD, congratulations. We are all reminded...who cares what the scale says when your pants are baggy and your body is smaller.

I agree, it's great to tighten up that belt a notch...or six! Forget the scale! I think I'd rather lose inches than pounds, the latter will eventually come off too!

This is so timely and encouraging to read. I'm losing so slowy by scale measurement, though I am losing inches. It is easy to get discouraged (though I would not DREAM of quitting or cheating this time!!!), so thanks for posting these good thoughts!
