  • Why We Go On

I was thinking today that next month will be 2 years on Atkins for me. I asked myself what keeps me going on this WOE, as well as on my new (2 weeks now) exercise program. The answer for me is that I feel good about myself.

I used to think that losing weight would MAKE me feel good about myself. But I got it backward: I was able to lose weight BECAUSE I felt good about myself. Deep inside. I always KNEW I deserved better.

Sometimes we are simply afraid to hope for better things because we are afraid we can not achieve them. I believe that when we have a setback, there is a little voice inside that says 'you KNOW you can do it'. When we answer back to this little voice 'yes, I will', THAT is when we find the COURAGE to carry on with this. It's not just about strength but about courage.

We already know we are strong because we carry the weight of being mom, dad, sibling, child, employer, employee, consumer, minister, counselor, policeman, artist, accountant, priest, doctor, priest, chauffeur, atm machine, mechanic, plumber, and the list goes on.

We know we are courageous because we are letting the person we know we are in our SPIRIT, be revealed.

Thanks! I wanted a name that was descriptive, yet not too long. I wanted to choose an ironically interesting avatar, so I chose the gorgeous, blonde Anna Nicole Smith. I'm actually brown skin with a gi-normous natural 'fro.
