  • Look who's back again....me! lol :)

Hey guys and gals...I haven't been on here in almost 2 years, and I am ashamed to say that I've fallen off the bandwagon and need to get back on track.

My starting weight was around 164-165...I started Atkins and eventually (within 4.5 months) lost down to 135, then eased on down to 125.

Well, the weight has eased back up again, not by a lot, but if I don't change my bad habits then I could very well be up to the 160's again.

Right now, I am around 137lbs...which is not too bad, but still , I don't like the direction the weight is going. I had pretty extensive knee surgery so I have not been able to exercise like I once did, nor will I be able to for a while yet.

I probably should re-read the Adkins book. I am pretty sure that I remember most of it, but still it's better to re-educate myself I guess- better to be safe than sorry!

I have a few questions though, on a few things that I am not sure if I was ever successful at finding a right or wrong answer to...

    (thanks in advance)

1.) Flavoured bottled water like the Aquafina or Nestle (which I believe is sweeted with Splenda)...Are those ok to have?

2.) I am on pretty strong pain medication, Dilaudid, will that slow down my progress or anything?

3.) Any tips on jumpstarting yourself for weighloss once you've hit a plateau ?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Welcome back Wildfire!

You may want to speak to your doctor about the Dilaudid, I think, once again, I think, that might hender you a bit. I could be wrong.

As far as the flavored waters....sorry, they won't count for your water intake. I think one of the splenda sweetened drinks counts as like 1-3 sweet'd items for the day on induction.

Your best bet is to drink good old plain room temp water. (room temp is peragative for you, I just find it easier to down 224 oz of water at that temp haha) You'll be up and down to the bathroom most of the first few days but your body will adjust.

good luck, and seriously, the Dilaudid, speak to your physician first!

    Welcome back though!

      Welcome back!

      1. Yes, but count it towards your sweetner limit, and try to minimise how much you drink. Make sure you are getting your water in. Watch the sodium too. Makes your weight artifically higher, and it's annoying to see on the scale. :P

      2. Medications can slow weightloss, depending on the person. It's definately a factor.

      3. Keep it as clean as possible. Meat and low carb veggies, and watch everything else. It's easy to pile on the carbs with katsup, soy sauce, etc. Patience helps alot too.
