  • Help calculating

    Hello all.
    I am taking sugar free Metamucil I'm sure you all know why anyway it has 5g total carbs...3g dietary fiber and 2g soluble fiber. Does that end up 0 net carbs or does it count 2 the soluble fiber is throwing me a curve??? Thanks much...Bob

    I've always counted it as 2. I could be wrong, but total fiber is 3, 2 of which is soluble. I think.

        That is what I was afraid of. So if I want to ever go to the bathroom again and take as directed 3x a day that is 6g of carbs total from my big whopping 20 leaves me 14g of carbs for food.......bon-appetite

          You can get raw/pure psyllium husk that is all fiber. Metamucil has some additional stuff they are adding in to their product, I'd guess.

          Plus, if you are eating good vegetables with high fiber content (like jicama, spinach, celery, broccoli) then you don't need any additional fiber.

            Jicama makes me more.. ummm... regular... and if I'm really out of sorts, I mean, like, before, not now of course, cause I eat all my veggies.. I would mix like, 1T ground flaxseed, with like, 1/2T heavy cream and a packet of splenda, nuke a little bit, and it was like, umm... oatmeal... and would basically resolve any ummm.. "issue" within an hour or two...

              And make sure you drink extra water if you are taking fibre pills or flax/psyllium husks to to help things work!!

                oh yeah...don't forget the extra, extra water or you'll just clog yourself even further!
