  • My Method to tracking losses

After I dropped a good bit of weight on induction I wanted to know exactly what I was losing. Sooooo... I bought a scale that measured weight to .01 lbs. body fat percentage based on sex, height and age and water percentage. I now weigh EVERY day that I sleep at my own place at the same time wearing nothing. I made an excel spreadsheed and I document weight, bodyfat % and Water %. It really helps me when I see my gains and losses. If I lift hard I may now show a weight loss or may even have a gain, but I can see a fraction of my body fat % come off and multiply it times the weight and I can see the litereal weight I have lost, I can also see what was just water. It's not as complicated as it may sound.

It is also very obvious what the effects are if I eat after 7:30 at night, and the effects if I do not drink enough water.

Also, the higher in sodium the meat the more you weigh, I know that's obvious, but SEEING it in numbers helps you to understand it.

Ohmygod. You sound almost as OCD as me. Wanna get married (or at least let me move in and use your scale daily)?!?

I have seen the same effects on the scale from eating after 7 and not drinking enough water and having too much sodium! I need to get one of your scales though, mine's not so cool lol

Re: My Method to tracking losses

As I just posted on another thread, there are numbers people who really need to constantly study the numbers. It that is who you are, then that is what you should do.

If you are not a numbers person, then the ketone test strips sum it all up in fifteen seconds, and as long as you are burning lots of fat, you need not worry about the minor daily variations. Also, remember that your normal daily variation in weight can vary far more than you would expect to lose in a day.

The whole advantage of the Atkins diet, is that it works while allowing a lot of personal variation for individual preferences. You can eat more of a certain type of acceptable food if you like that. (e.g. -- I like eggs and steak.) You can fuss on numbers or not; you can weigh every few hours or not; you can have high tech monitors or not; you can do a lot of exercise or not; and if you control your carbs, you will still lose weight and clean up your cardiovascular system in most cases.

As I have posted (almost everywhere you are posting) the ketone strips do not "sum it all up in fifteen seconds". It does not matter if you're a 10 or a 2 on the strip. While you think that it means that it will take 5 months to burn a pound if you're at 2, it doesn't. Please check your information before posting.
