I've been told that two Tbls of Coconut Oil a day burns fat.
    does anyone know about that?
I'm on induction right now but was wondering about the coconut oil.
    thanks

    Re: coconut Oil

Ok, so basically anything I find says that it does nothing more than ketosis would do for you... and that it doesn't have all the nasties that a lot of the fats/oils do with being polysaturated or whatever, that aren't good for you anyway... that if you switch entirely to it instead of other oils, that it'll cut down on calories and be easier to burn off as it's saturated, without being poly.

The thing about eating it, if I remember correctly from being younger, is that it umm.. "lubricates" your system and causes certain things to occur easier...

      Re: coconut Oil

First you want to make sure it's cold-pressed Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) which is rich in linoleic acid. Using heat to extract coconut oil will destroy most of the substances in coconut which provide health benefits.

AFAIK, the weight loss properties of linoleic acid has only been shown in mice so the jury's still out. Anecdotal evidence points to the possibilty that VCO revs up the metabolism but nothing has been established.

At the very least, 2 tbsps of VCO won't do any harm.

        Re: coconut Oil

I just wanted to make sure it was ok for induction and it seems ok.
Coconut sounds like Carbs to me but it has none.
As for as lubricating! that might be a good thing if it helps you go to the bathroom better as I've not been that good since starting this induction and I use Physillium every day.
        thanks
