      Re: New Article

This kind of stuff irritates me:

“It’s a lot easier to follow a diet that tells you to eat bacon and brie than to eat predominantly fruits and vegetables,” said Dr. Dean Ornish, creator of the Ornish diet.

      ???

First, a 10-year study on low fat diets already indicates that a low-fat diet doesn't have any of the health benefits touted...and I really really really really REALLY REALLY hate it when "experts" mouth off about a WOE that they obviously know NOTHING about.

Even Dr. Oz, in "You: On a Diet", one of the most informative books out there, calls Atkins a "protein heavy diet".

But I'm preaching to the choir, aren't I??

ummm.. he's promoting his own diet by putting down others. Apparently others that he knows nothing about.

I'll try to read the journal article that's being published tomorrow. I'll probably end up rolling my eyes though.

Every time a study comes out with more scientific evidence that Atkins works and is healthy...the media always, always, always has to put a "BUT" in there don't they?

              Re: New Article

Yeah, I was going to steal the journal article from work and read it...

The good part is that it had Atkins as having the most loss *and* having the most people stick to it... to an extent... comparatively... along with the cholesterol and stuff being better with Atkins.

I read most of my journals online, so maybe I can do some cutting & pasting on some of the points from the journal article that's not in that news article. I'll try to remember to bring some ibuprofen to work...I predict a headache from reading it.

Jess, did you mean the Harvard study?

I'd like to slap Dr. Ornish.

The thing that gets me is that nobody stuck to ANY of the diets...so did anybody really learn anything...except that next time they'd better get participants who have a little bit of dedication?
