  • Questions about Stevia

    What brand do you use?

Have you noticed any difference between the powder vs. the liquid?

Is there a limit on Stevia per day? I have occasionally used 2 packs of the SweetLeaf Stevia Plus, but usually only one per day. I was thinking if in the future I try making desserts with it that I would probably need more.

Does the Inulin Fiber or FructoOligosaccharides affect blood sugar? As far as I could tell, that is fiber and shouldn't count toward carbs.

    Re: Questions about Stevia

I just bought some Stevia today. Liquid and in packet form "sweet leaf" and the owner of the store said that stevia is the best thing out there, she went on to say that splenda in any form, liquid or granular, is the worst thing you can have.

I have been driving by this organic store for the past few weeks and finally decided to stop in. I am really glad I did, the owner was really cool and she gave me all kinds of tips. She has everything in the store that I have been looking for. Everything from vitamins, spices, psyllium husks, Stevia, organic vanilla and all kinds of organic seeds, "pumpkin seeds" awesome!!..This really made my day, because there are not to many places here locally to shop for these kind of items. I live in a shore resort, so it is tough for a small businesses to survive the short winter. But I will be sure to help keep this store in business..

Hmmm... I haven't used Splenda or any form of sweetener because I just don't make anything that calls for sweeteners (and have never been a coffee or soft drink drinker), but I was just wondering if the owner said why Splenda is so terrible. Just curious, as Splenda is favored over Aspartame according to Dr. A.

From what she said is that is all just a chemical. She also mentioned that it is mixed in with Aspartame. I looked it up and one Dr said that Splenda is mixed with Aspartame

I really don't care what is in it, I am going to stick with her advice and use the all natural Stevia. But I am not opposed to sill have products used with Splenda over Aspertame, from time to time..

Thanks for the info, Capemay Eagle. If I ever get around to using sweeteners (which surely I will at some point, since this WOE is for life), I will keep this in mind.
