  • Project "Clean Week"

Ok, I am down 32 lbs. since 1/15/07 and am really enjoying the Atkins lifestyle. However I am slowing a little and am going to find a way to kickstart fat loss again. So I have decided I am going to do a little experiment for 7 days. I am going to obviously stay on Atkins and alter my food choices.

I am going to cut out creamer, caffeine, nuts, cream cheese, sweeteners and a few other little things. I got these "staller" foods from reading the posts on the forum. and I appreciate all the great info.

I am going to limit my meats to flank steak, chicken, tuna, turkey and lean ground beef. I will also snack on green beans, celery and broccoli. I will limit my cheese intake to less than 4 oz. per day. I will also be moving to 100% water with no other beverages for that 7 day period, maybe some decaf black. I am going for 100 oz a day. Eggs are about the only other thing I will add in. I'm limiting sodium as much as I can too. NO FOOD PAST 6:45PM! I think I will use fitday.com to track my intake of carbs. I am also going to ramp up my exercise to 30-60 minutes on the treadmill at 7PM and add in a little more anerobic exercise. My goal is 5lbs in one week, but more or less I am seeing if the things I am cutting out are what is stalling me.

I have also decided to lay out my clothes for work at night and make my lunch at night too, this will allow me 30 additional minutes on the treadmill before work.

I think this will be a nice change. I have my meals planned for the week already and I will update daily. I am starting this Saturday morning (3/17).

I am hoping this will be a shock to the system, less sodium and tons of water should flush out some of that water weight, less fat in the diet and more excercise while maintaining protien should burn more fat while keeping me satisfied.

    Wish me luck.

Are you still on induction/extended induction? Many people stay on induction far too long, thinking they will lose more weight by doing so. I suggest you move to OWL Rung 1. It's actually adding more carbs that jumpstarts weightloss for many.

I think it's an excellent idea to cut the caffiene/sweeteners/cream and to drink lots of water. The exercise will be a great benefit as well, but remember, the more you exercise, the more lean muscle you will build. Check your measurements rather than pounds on a scale.

I think that sounds like a GREAT plan Coach. Planning is always a great tool. And while you can't control how much weight comes off when, you can control those things you've listed. EXCELLENT.

Are you doing the veggie rung of OWL? I would recommend that too. Eat more than 3 cups of veggies. The additional fiber will help move things along.

remember, as you add things in the weight loss is suppose to slow down. it's a natural thing. i've seen members stay on induction till they lost every pound they wanted to lose and the second the added more veggies, nuts, dairy and so on, the weight shot up and they gained 20 or 25 pounds within no time.

one thing i have done has worked out well. instead of eliminating everything, i get rid of one thing to see how my body reacts. if i don't see progress, i eliminate something else.

much success with what route you will take.

I have not been on induction for a month or so. I eat a good bit of broccoli, celery, lettuce, green beans and pickles. I also have a limited bit of olives from time to time. I probably do need to add more greens. I have added vegetables but probably not nearly enough, I might eat a cup a day and a half a pickle. Thanks for the idea, i am going to max out my veggies on this too.

As far as the lean muscle issue Julie presented, I have a scale that measures weight to .1, bodyfat percentage and water weight percentage. I can look at that and see exactly where I am.

32 pounds since Jan. is an incredible amount of weight. That is awsome! But now your body is going to slow down. It is natural. There is no way you that you will continue to drop that much weight in that short of period of time again and stay healthy. It is not realistic. I am sure you can lose a healthy amount while moving up the rungs on OWL and not be depriving yourself of foods you enjoy. Remember this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Be happy about your awsome weight loss, but realize its now time to embrace a slower pace. Enjoy dont deprive! And Julie is right about the muscle weight. It can be very deceiving.

Wow that is an awesome idea! Gook luck, I am cheering for you!

Also it's true that your weightloss will slow down, believe me I know. But going for one good week without the extras sure won't hurt. But just becareful that you don't get bored and binge, and be careful when you start adding back in after the week that you don't overdo it, it can be easy to do.

Coach - you and I are on the same page! I was stalled out, even gaining weight. I decided to start again with Induction, but with some changes. No cream, no cream cheese, no Splenda, no diet sodas, no frankenfood. I took it one step further and have gone organic. I had my first grass-fed steak last night and it was mind-blowingly wonderful!

                I wish you luck!

                    Hey coach,

I'm cheering for you too. You've lost an unbelievable amount of weight in a short time. I mean 32 poiunds in two months is phenomenal. It's only natural that your body is gonna stop losing so fast. Keeping up that momentum, you'd dissappear in no time .

I'll check your progress daily..You're very determined, I know it will happen.

eh... ok so I made it until about 5PM w/o my caffeine. I could not ake that dull headache any longer! I still like this concept a lot and the foods are no problem, but I am going to ween myself off coffee before I try this again.

IN all fairness my wise old mother put me in my place by reminding me I have no gone 3 days in a row without either a decrease in bodyfat or weight, I need to accept that things are going to slow a little. I started at 272 and woke up this morning in the 230's for the first time. I need to learn to be happy with baby steps and realize anything bigger wouldn't be healthy and I'd have some nasty skin to go with it.
