  • Hey folks! Let's talk about green tea! :)

Ok! Had a nice chat with my physican's PA today. She has been a great supporter of my weight loss and has been very proud of my successes. Told her about my goal to get back down to 160ish. She reminded me to drink up on the green tea. I had done this in the past and had kinda gotten away from it. Does anybody have any stories to share about their green tea consumption and its a effect on their losses? How about any scientific articles to back up the claim with data? Talk to me folks...I'll check back in....I'm off to brew a pot of green tea!

Re: Hey folks! Let's talk about green tea!

Well - I cannot say for sure whether or not green tea makes me get rif of the weight faster, but it definately makes me feel better ! I once read a book about green tea (forgot the name) and WOW - you cannot not drink green tea after reading about all the other benefits it offers for your body & health.

I also up my green tea intake after I had a little too much to eat the day before and also when I have the flu. It most definately helps for that (bloatedness & flu simptoms). In my heart I believe that it definately helps me too make the scale move to a lower number! And I still get the great benefits it has to offer.

    So - enjoy!

Is this a St Patricks Day Question 'Thin is possible' I think that was last week?

haha. sorry. Had to interject. I do green tea every so often, but haven't really paid attention to weight loss/gain with it...

Guess I need to study up! Thanks!

        Hello there!

In the past when I have been on the weight watchers program I have drank green tea.
Dunno if it was in my head but I always seemed to lose more weight and more regular!

I havn't drank much of it recently but think I will get back into the habit.
Great stuff for flushing out the toxins! Especially in the morning.

Best with no milk added (or would be cream on Atkins!)
Also...don't let it brew for too long! Not nice stewed!

White tea is supposed to be even better for you that green tea - so they say. I went to purchase some and almost fell over at the price of it. But Stash makes a green and white tea fusion that wont break the bank and is very yummy.

I think the weight loss thing is due to the fact, when you drink tea, it fills you up and the caffeine in it acts as a diuretic so you get rid of water weight. Also, since most people don't like drinking plain water, drinking tea is easier for them to do.

All I know is I love green tea, and twig tea too, which is the stems of the same plant green tea comes from. I can't testify to any weight loss from it though.

Can anyone tell me if green tea tastes similar to tea? This post reminded me that I've been thinking about getting some to try, but I don't like regular tea.

Scooter Jam, you are such a "hoot!" No, believe it or not, my "green" tea question was not a "pun" on St. Patty's Day! Very clever of you to think of that though and ask. I appreciated the laugh!!!!!!! Thanks! Oh and sofarsogood, I think green tea tastes a bit similar to regular tea. Try it with a little fresh lemon squeezed into it. Maybe that will help.

My sister studied Green tea in college, and it is proven to help with weight loss. On the other hand it is high in caffeine. I thought caffeine was a no go on Atkins??. This is why I switched to decaffeinated tea..

Re: Hey folks! Let's talk about green tea!

I've heard it's good for weightloss and I really like it so I try to drink some daily. I like it with splenda and cream if it's hot. I also like the 'diet green tea' by umm is it Lipton?

A question though.. how much do you need to drink for it to be effective? Has anyone seen a study or something on that?

I stopped drinking it because I thought caffiene was a no-no, especially on induction.

                        Is it OK after induction?

I buy the de-caffeinated kind! It is available at my local Wal-Mart.
