  • What excuse do you have......

    So many of us, especially the members that have been here for years, would agree that we've seen more than our fair share of excuses of why a piece of cake, a candy bar or a bag of chips landed in the pit of someone stomach.
    we've seen:
    • I had to go to a wedding
    • it was there, i couldn't resist
    • hey, a small piece of that was not going to hurt me... 15 bites of it, did me in
    • but it was my birthday! how could i not eat a piece of cake?
    • i was on vacation.
    so, lets focus on the positive side of excuses

    WHAT EXCUSE DO YOU HAVE FOR
    NOT EATING
    THE PIES, THE CAKES, THE CANDY AND THE CARB LADEN FOOD
    THAT MADE EVERYONE OF US OVERWEIGHT?

    my excuse was i couldn't tie my shoes without inhaling and holding my breath. it remains one of the excuses for not eating junk to this day.

      I'm allergic to carbs, they make me break out in FAT!

      I can't remember where I saw that at...I would give credit if I knew who to give it to.

        1. My excuse is that I'd like to be able to put the arm rest down without it squeezing my love handles.
        2. and that I'd like to be able to walk to work with my coworkers without having to try to hide the fact that I'm out of breath.

          26 yr 5'2 F
          Did Atkins on and off from Feb 2005 until April 2008. Fluctuated between 15 st 1/211lbs and 11 st 1/155lbs.
          On different weightloss programme from 28th May 2008 start weight 14 st 11/207lbs.
          Current weight 10st 3lbs/143lbs.
          Ultimate Goal Weight 9 st/126lbs.

            My excuse was rather sad...and it's my motivation after reaching goal to never falter...my excuse was my Aunt Maybelle who is morbidly obese...60 years old. Her bones are deteriorating, she needs knee surgery but is carrying around so much extra weight that no surgeon will operate. She's type II diabetic, can't go anywhere that has more than one step, and can only walk the 5 feet from her chair to the washroom with two canes, a herculean effort and several breaks inbetween. Just last month she officially became confined to a wheel chair. And this woman refuses to change her eating patterns...I saw myself getting that big and said "never".


            Whenever I want a cookie, piece of pie or cake, pastry, or anything made with white flour I think of my excuse and it stops me in my tracks.

            And over a year later...here I am!

              My excuse is I am tired of my thighs rubbing together when I walk.
              I am tired of people telling me how good I used to look..(what is that supposed to mean!)
              I did not want to hear my grandmother ask me if I had lost weight everytime she calls even before she says hello.
              I do not want to hear my mother-in-law tell me how my husband likes skinny women ( we are still married and very happy so she does not know what she is talking about.)
              I am tired of hiding in the car when I see someone that knew me year's ago because I am scared of what they will say.
              I do not want to not fit in the rides at the Fair and other parts ( very close to it).
              I do not want to see anymore stretch marks without having given birth.
              I want to feel great and go dancing like I used to many, many pounds ago.
              I want my life back!


              (wow...I have a lot of good excuses)....I did not even realize it until I wrote this now.

                another excuse i had was my blood pressure was through the roof. i had to get that under control.

                these are all great excuses for NOT eating those things that are NOT listed on the Induction list and the following rungs.

                  Issues tying shoes, check
                  Walking and sucking wind, check
                  Family members morbidly obese and getting limbs cut, check
                  Not wanting to get on blood pressure meds, check


                  All of these, heck, they're not just the excuses for me not eating sweet stuff anymore but even the so called "low carb" "frankenfoods".

                  So many times I thought I could have my low carb cake and eat it too, so many times I've failed.

                  That's about wore me out. Now I'm ready to do the Atkins diet.



                  Great thread. I could go through this daily, by the hour and by the minute on some days.

                    My excuses for not eating junk anymore:

                    1) I don't want to EVER have another student ask me if I'm going to have a baby, unless I really am pregnant.
                    2) I don't want to get winded walking up the stairs in my OWN HOUSE.
                    3) I want people to stop saying "but you have such a pretty face..."
                    4) I don't want people to assume I can't do something because I'm fat.
                    5) I don't want people to look at me with a look of fear when I'm eating a salad, like the fat girl could get into a crazed fit of hunger and eat the person next to her.

                      I don't want to be the fattest mom/wife at everything we go to.

                      I don't want to stand in front of a mirror in a dressing room at a store and cry, and i don't want to keep skipping special events because I give up on finding clothes.
                      I want to wear evil-tight spandex with an A+ attitude.
                      I want to meet goals, keep my promises to myself, and taste success.
                      I want to hear my husband tell me I look great and mean it. I want his friends to tell him I look great and mean it.
                      I want to shop for great clothes like a fashion-possessed woman, and I want to quit tugging down and pulling up and yanking around and stretching out everything I wear.
                      I want to avoid diabetes.
                      I want to wear a swimsuit that can only hold one person in it.
                      I want to inspire my loved ones to lose their weight.
                      I want to win this war on fat!!!

                              *I want to be able to run in a road race with my svelt 6'2" gazelle of a coworker, whom I adore.
                              *I want to be able to keep up with my two neices that are on the way
                              *I want to look smokin' in my wedding dress
                              *I don't want people to see me trying to walk around them in a store and move waaaay further out of the way than necessary for me to get by because they think I look like the Michelin man.
