• Good News & Here Comes the Bride

Thankyou all for your good wishes re my health - my doctor last week thought breast cancer had returned, but after a whole week of worry, the mammogram, ultrasound and biopsies showed it hasn't, and the lump is just made of scar tissue and fatty tissue which is always found in bumpy areas along the scar line, with radiotherapy making some bumps very hard/solid.

I was never overly worried about the lump, as I knew I've had it since radiotherapy in 2005, but my doctor was concerned, which made me worry!!

It's my daughter's wedding day today - in just a few hours! My weight loss hasn't been great for the last week, as I lost none but gained none. So far, I've lost 7 kg in 6 weeks or 12 lbs. I will write tomorrow and let you know what I thought of that one slice of cake, if I do eat one. There will be plenty of Atkins Allowed food at the reception - lots of grilled meat, cold meats (like ham etc.) and seafood platters Well, I had better get a move on and start getting ready!

Re: Good News & Here Comes the Bride

Thankyou... and the wedding went well. I only cried a couple of times AMAZINGLY!!! The reception was very loud and crowded, and food was scarce as one platter at a time was laid out on a small table which everyone rushed for immediately, and many got to an empty platter! I managed to eat a tiny piece of spicy chicken, 2 king prawns, 3 pieces of meat on a skewer, a slice of pizza - and I did have a slice of the wedding cake. Everything was delicious! I haven't gained any weight (nor lost).

Below is a photo of the bride, bridesmaids, flower girl and page boy, and me. I'm the shortest adult! The rest are 5 of my 6 children - the girl on the far left is the groom's sister - and my missing child was my 18 yearold son who was with the boys getting ready. I had not lost as much weight as I had hoped for :/ In the photo, I am already crying, which is why everyone is looking at me. And no, my eldest daughter on my left isn't giving me a funny sign - but I don't actually know what she IS doing?

There's also a picture of the happy couple - she's almost 22 and he's almost 25. They are now honeymooning in Singapore, South Africa and Egypt, for 5 weeks.

COngratulations - they really are a lovely couple! I am from South AFrica (Cape TOwn)!

You also look really good on the wedding photos -so I hope you enjoyed the wedding & cake and that you are continueing with Atkins sothat you can see a even bigger change on the next set of family photos. Maybe make you next goal to look slimmer when the happy couple returns from honeymoon??? That should be motivation enough to stay focussed?

Thanks Super My daughter went to Johannesburg last year alone, but this year, they are both going there, plus Cape Town - that's a beautiful looking place!

Yes, I am sure I will be slimmer when they get back! I still have lots to lose till I reach my goal weight

What a lovely family you have!! And what a handsome young man your daughter picked - with parents like that I bet your grandkids will be beautiful too!!

I am glad you enjoyed your special day and are still on-plan for being a slimmer mother to greet the returning couple in 5 weeks time

Might be that you didn't lose all the weight you wanted but I really think you look very good on that picture!! (and you can hardly see you are crying! if you hadn't told I would not have noticed for sure!)

Your daughter and your son-in-law look absolutely beautiful. Just think what kind of picture you'll have next year at the 1st anniversary mark, the incredible shrinking mum!
