I have a question regarding Atkins and the lower blood sugar regime. I suffer from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and I know that this program is supposed to regulate and stabilize blood sugar levels but if I suffer from LOW blood sugar levels, doesn't this program aggravate the situation? A diabetic suffers from high levels of sugar where hypoglycemia is low levels.
I know that insulin production plays a role in all this, but as an example...
I am in day 5 of Induction and last night I waited a little too long to eat dinner. I had fish and salad but the symptoms had already started. In the past when I suffered symptoms, I would eat peanut butter or juice, etc.. to quickly alleviate the symptoms. Now, by eating only what I am supposed to, fat & protein, it takes much longer to remove the symptoms since protein takes longer to breakdown. I know overall, that protein is better for my condition; but I am talking about the occassional blood sugar drop that I experience. Isn't eating very low carbs the opposite that i want to do?
Medical people say that I should follow what diabetics follow and this diet is supposed to be good for them, so....
