  • I am back.....

    Hello-
I am back after a long while. I think I am going to go back to the LC way of eating. It really has been the only thing that works for me. AND, I don't have to think quite as hard as when I count calories.

I had been on WW for a few months and had had good results, but I had some issues at home, went off WW and gained it all back............and I think some more so I am afraid to get back on the scale. I just don't want to see the awful numbers.

    Any helpful hints this time?

    Jennifer

    Re: I am back.....

Welcome back! Glad you decided to re-commit to Atkins.

My advice would be to post often and use the board. It's a wonderful place for support and inspiration. Join an exercise challenge... write a journal... try a low carb recipe... and above all keep focused on your target by doing these things.

    We're all here for ya!

      Re: I am back.....

Hi! I'm recently back and I'll tell you what I'm doing different this time. Before I tried to add whole grain breads to my diet. I have IBS and not only did it give me cramps, but I just couldn't lose weight. This time I just decided to try only non-processed whole grains. I never liked whole grain rice before because it seemed so tough and chewy, but now that I'm making it myself I cook it a little longer and it's great! I'm losing weight quickly, have lots of energy, and have better BM's than I've ever had in my life. Honestly, I'm not counting this time, but just eating all the foods I know that I can eat and still lose. Maybe I'm unusual, but I found that I never had the strength or energy to work out until I got to the berries rung. I could increase my veg carbs day after day and it just didn't help. I'm eating both fruits and whole grains every day, and often multiple times per day. And even (gasp) bananas! If you feel that you are falling off the wagon because you are not feeling satisfied or are missing some foods I would suggest eating more of the rungs that you may have avoided, if you were avoiding. I'm eating from all groups and feel wonderfull and satisfied (and skinnier!). Maybe I'm not an Atkid anymore since I'm not counting, but sticking just to whole foods (plus some dairy) has been the ticket for me.

Welcome back! I've fallen off the wagon several times, but the times I'm most successful are when I read/post daily, journal, plan ahead, drink mainly water and lots of it, and have easy to grab foods to snack on.

Also, think about where you'll be in a year if you DON'T stick with it! In 2003 when I first did this and was quite successful, I only had about 15 pounds to lose. When I quit, over time I gained back the weight I had lost PLUS about 20 pounds. I keep thinking.. if only I had been able to stick with it.. what I would look and feel like NOW!
