Re: What's your favorite salad dressing?

Sorry, I guess I am just a little confused about why everyone is saying Ken's Ranch only has 1 carb? Based on their nutrition facts here: http://www.kensfoods.com/kf/products...roductFlavorId=

It says there are 2g/2Tbs and sugar is listed as an ingredient before the 2% series, so that is a more significant ingredient. The Buttermilk Ranch does only have 1carb/2Tbs, is that the one being referred to? Is buttermilk even allowed in induction?

    Thanks so much!

Re: What's your favorite salad dressing?

At 1 total carb per serving, Ken's Steakhouse Buttermilk Ranch never gave me any problems. Full-fat dressings are permitted on Induction - and most other brands of full-fat Ranch on the market, buttermilk or otherwise, yield twice the carbohydrates as this one at 2 total grams per 2 T. Ultimately, it is a judgment call, and your mileage may vary.

Re: What's your favorite salad dressing?

Okay great, thanks so much for the response! The only thing I was worried about is that buttermilk doesn't come in until one of the OWL rungs, so I didn't know if it was okay for induction. I guess like you said, it will affect everyone differently. I've purchased the Ken's SH Caesar since my last post, so I'll just keep myself occupied with that for a while. I'm looking for a Ranch to dip celery in!

Re: What's your favorite salad dressing?

I know there's a recipe section, but why buy when you can make your own without worries of added sugar in less than 5 minutes? Both are induction friendly.

          1. Ranch dressing:
          1 cup heavy cream
          1 cup mayonaise
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dressing/seasoning mix

1 gram CHO per 2 tablespoons

This stuff is like liquid crack and it is nice and thick for dipping.

          2. Raspberry vinaigrette
1/3 cup red raspberry vinegar (2 g CHO per TBS - ie, Kozlowski Farms)
          1/3 cup olive oil
          2 TSP dijon mustard
          1/4 TSP oregano
          1/4 TSP black pepper
          9 drops liquid sucralose (sweetzfree)

          2 g CHO per 2 tablespoons

If you use granular Splenda (1/3 cup), it is 3 g CHO per 2 tablespoons
          191/180.4/175/140

I LOVE the Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese! But if I need a ranch dip I usually use just plain Kraft Ranch.

Re: What's your favorite salad dressing?

              I love ranch on anything.

Store bought favorite is the 3 cheese ranch kraft dressing. (I believe its 2 carbs) but not 100% on that.

I now make my own from Lindas recipe. It's so easy. I just made a huge batch this morning cause the whole family eats it up. (I do water mine down just a tiny bit because as it states on her page it comes out THICK. But soo good. My mom ate with us today and she couldn't believe the things I cooked were atkins and she said the dressing was amazing and ranch isn't her favorite normally.
and if I don't have some of the items I omit it (like the dill and celery salt) I will eventually buy them. lol But for now I'm happy as it is.

              RANCH-STYLE SALAD DRESSING
              1/4 cup mayonnaise
              1 tablespoon sour cream
              2 tablespoons heavy cream
              1 teaspoon white vinegar
              2 drops Tabasco
              1/8 teaspoon granular Splenda
              1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
              1/8 teaspoon onion powder
              1/8 teaspoon celery salt
              1/4 teaspoon pepper
              1/8 teaspoon dill
              1/2 teaspoon chives
              1 teaspoon fresh parsley, minced

Mix all ingredients and chill well before serving.

              Makes about 7 tablespoons

Per Tablespoon: 76 Calories; 8g Fat; trace Protein; 1g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 1g Net Carbs
Per 2 Tablespoons: 178 Calories; 19g Fat; 1g Protein; 2g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 1.5g Net Carbs

This comes out quite thick so could probably thin it down with a little water which would also cut the carbs a bit.

What a neat thread...I love Green Goddess dressing. I was a total blue cheese snob until then...YUM!
