    Hello,

    Okay, this is a little embarassing but I have been merrily using fitday for a while and I never thought to think about subtracting the fibre to get my true 'Atkins carbs' until I saw Boonie Stomper mentioning it somewhere. I think that the fact UK labels have these figures on already meant I didn't consider it - that's my excuse anyway.

    I thought this was worth bringing to people's attention again.

    I cannot believe I've been doing it so wrong! I'm going to head over to fitday and see what my real carbs are!

    Oh my gosh,

    I am freaking out now! I just put in the fibre thing for fitday and for today's meals it said I'd had around 20g fibre so I took that away from my total carbs (48 ) so that means I've had 28g!!! How can that possibly be right - I had avocado, nuts and berries today!?

    Help am very confused. Does it mean I've been eating a far lower number than I thought? In that case my CCLL will be tiny!

      Yup you've got to subtract the fiber! Somedays it says i've had over 100 carbs, but after subtracting the fiber, I'm usually in the 60s. My fiber intake changes each day, but I try to keep "net" carbs around the same level.

        I can't believe I was getting it so wrong. and yes, I have read the book

        I thought I was having 30-40g carbs, but actually around 25-30g. But it makes sense to me now why some numbers weren't adding up.

        So I guess from here I'll just aim for 30g carbs per day and try to stabilise for a while.
