  • What are you missing out on?

Me? Nothing. I love this WOE.

Friday night we met up with friends at the local sports bar and had hot wings. (I had a salad with blue cheese dressing).

Saturday night we had Ribeye steaks on the grill, caesar salad and steamed broccoli with herb butter and parmesean reggiano.

Last night for dinner, hubby and I had steamed crab legs in drawn butter, and roasted cauliflower.

So what wonderful foods have you enjoyed lately?

I wouldn't give these foods up for macaroni with orange powder cheese if you begged me.

I did go on to fruits, grains and starchy veggies and I can eat them! So the only food I really have issues with is bread, but I may have a small amount of it here and there when I'm at my goal, but truly whole foods are my focus. The brown rice mix I bought is kinda nutty and I thought it make taste good if sweetened, so I may try to make an 'oatmeal' out of it. I have very small amounts of potato here and there. Though I guess I can honestly say I miss macaroni and cheese (gourmet style, not orange powder!) so if I found a reasonable facsimile I would be happy.

So far I don't miss anything! I love the foods I eat and I never feel deprived.

Oh wait...I guess I "miss" migraines caused by sugary cereals, pastries, and cakes.

I "miss" those 71 pounds caused by eating too much sugar and carbohydrates.

I "miss" mood swings, cravings, and emotional upheaval caused by the crappy food I was eating.

It looks like I'm really missing out! I Heart Atkins.

I'm not missing out on anything! I'm eating really cool things I haven't in years!

          New Things....Jicama, Rutabaga, Kohlrabi.....nice.

Who wouldn't love cooking with butter, olive oil, heavy cream, things just don't get much better than this.

Smoked chicken in the smoker this weekend, smoked pork, and smoked beef....getting ready for the week.

Heck, I made a meatloaf with ground beef, green peppers, green onions, mushrooms, cheese, 2 eggs.....I didn't care that it didn't have bread crumbs....oh yeah, and then I made sugar free ketchup and put that on top of the whole thing. My Pro-Carb eating family....swallowed it down with gusto commenting on how good it was............

Yup....it just doesn't get any better than this. (And I'm only on rung 1 -- whats gonna happen when I hit the rest of the rungs - happier??? Oh yeah...happy is good!)

          Nice Post!

Do your 14 Days of Induction, then move to OWL Phase. Spring is nearing and so the markets will be filled with those lovely, fresh, locally grown berries, melons, peaches, pears, cherries, etc.

Just remember, Induction isn't the only weight loss phase of ATkins. Nor is it the phase that will guarantee you "faster" weight loss. Many OWLers can attest that their losses improved during OWL. Induction is 14 days long. No need to stay on it longer unless you have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss according to the charts in the book.

Don't forget that in DANDR it is written that the carb ladder is the SUGGESTED order of adding carbs based on how these foods affect MOST people. I lost my book while I was doing induction and had thought that berries were the second rung so I went on to strawberries. I'm glad I did because I felt like I was going to spew vegetable soup with all the veggies I was eating. By the time I found my book again I knew that berries were fine for me. And in case you feel that you are in danger of falling off the wagon why not just move on to the berries? I also found that a few sweet berries after each meal really helped refresh my mouth after eating a meal of savory foods.

Don't forget rhubarb and pumpkin which are on the 'one-cup' list!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
