  • Fried Pork Skins???????????

Are those legal during induction? Are those legal at all? I know it says no carbs but is there something i should know about them before trying them?

    Re: Fried Pork Skins???????????

A serving is about a 1/4 cup or a half of cup I think. Still count 1 carb, but be careful, they are full of salt!! I use them every so often like croutons, on a salad for a little crunch.

I use them on occasion to dip stuff with. Just be aware of the sodium.

I tried them last week. Didn't have that many and although I was on Induction and losing daily, wants I tried them I actually "stalled" for about three days and put on 1 1/2 lbs.(water retention). I won't eat them now.

Yep... legal but very high sodium. Can't imagine frying them though.

Thanks for the info. Sallyseachange i couldn't imagine frying them either. A friend of mine told me there were no carbs in them and they taste good and i'm like ...ugh . But when i bought them from the store, they kinda tasted good. BUT....it made me retain water, so i'll leave them alone.

What an awesome idea....I was wondering about those the other day, because I actually like them but the crouton type thing is a great idea

I love them! I buy the barbecue and salt & Vinegar flavor and have them with french onion dip. I don't miss chips at all! (well, almost.)

Yup. BBQ contains lots of sugar......of course they still say 0 carbs. But look in the ingredients Pork Skin, Sugar, blah.....yuk

Salt and Vinegar.....I'm not sure, I've had those before, but I can't remember if they have sugar in them.

By the way, be very careful about all the different brands, I saw a brand the other day that had cereal fillers in them. I was like........what the heck??

How do you add cereal fillers to pork skin.

                    People amaze me sometimes.

The barbecue say that they have 0 carbs, and they don't effect my weight or induce cravings. Thant's good enough for me!

I was thinking of crushing them and using as "bread crumbs"
do you think that would work?

                          Re: Fried Pork Skins???????????

I have them occasionally. They do taste good. I like to dip them in Ranch dressing. The made me retain water like crazy, though, and I had portion control issues. I caught myself eating them out of the bag like I used to with potato chips. Old habits die hard!
I would set aside a portion beforehand and try to stick to that.
I've heard of people crumbling them and using them for breading on chicken, etc. Sounds good although I've never tried it.

I like crushing pork rinds and using them for breading. Fried up some catfish with pork rind breading....yum!

p.s. - the 'fried' is because that's how they are prepared - you can buy 'raw' pork skins in the ethnic food section, but they're pretty gross!! The crunchy ones that you buy in the bags are already fried. lol!

I ordered the microwave pork skins from Netrition. I LOVE them. They have not made me react negatively. When the kids have popcorn with their movie I have my pork skins!
