  • My DH makes me SO MAD!!!!

We started this WOE about 2 weeks ago and I have not cheated ONCE. I even took the kids to a chocolate shop to paint easter eggs and didnt eat any of it! BUT my DH has been cheating left and right and he still is losing. We have a recording studio and when he has clients come over to record, they usually will have some beers or maybe go out to eat. Why is he losing and I am busting my butt to stick to this, and not losing as much? NO FAIR!

Tera, don't let it get to you. You're doing much better because you're forming good habits, following the plan correctly, and doing what you're SUPPOSED to do. You are training your mind and body to eat healthy foods that are good for you. Yes, your husband might be losing more now, but if these bites and cheats are happening often, they might lead him down that slippery slope of falling off the wagon completely. Keep going and be confident that you are doing exactly what you should be doing. In the long run, doing it right and losing slowly beats doing it wrong, losing quickly, and then gaining the weight back even more quickly!

You are right. It isn't fair, but its nature... On the other hand... he doesn't seem to be very suportiv...

Men just loose weight so much easier. Anyhow, don't get desperate! You have lost 8 pounds, haven't you?! How often do you exercise? Try to work out with weights to build up more muscles. Don't be afraid, you won't become a Schwarzenegger... Muscles do need more energy = calories than fat.

By the way, can't your husband do the chocolate activities with your children in the future? You don't have to torture yourself...

            Happy Easter!

I just realized that you aren't that big from the beginning. I don't know how heavy your husband is, but I think that women like us (read: trying to loose less than 50 pounds) have to have more patience than others who are starting with 260 pounds or even more.

I can be so jealous reading threads like "I have done my first week on induction and already lost 8 pounds"...
              Well, guess life isn't fair...

Stargirl's right... life isn't fair at all! And it's a real bummer that men lose so much faster than women. But.... just think of the story of the turtle and the hare. Better a turtle, for sure!

Hang in there, you're doing splendidly!

My husband has done the same thing. He even started weeks after me and has lost just as much weight. Sometimes I just want to club him. (that was meant in the nicest way )

Re: My DH makes me SO MAD!!!!

The first time I did Atkins, I lived at home with my parents and my dad started about a month after I did and lost twice the weight I did in half the time. That really burned me up! You're doing a great job and doing it slowly and the right way. He'll regret those cheats in the end lol

Yeah, they lose faster. But, you are learning to eat for the rest of your life, so by doing it cheat free, you are preparing yourself to resist temptations later. He will always be cheating if he doesn't learn how to control it and when he gets older....he might not be so lucky with his metabolism.

My husband has never had a fat-day in his entire life. NEVER. Skinny all his life!! Thats definitely not fair. But, I'm noticing now that he is aging that he is starting to gain weight. (not fat, just not skinny anymore). So....he's made comments to me that he needs to start watching what he eats for his health and doesn't want to gain as he gets older.

In my opinion, there's no need to be jealous because he loses weight faster than you. Be happy for him. After all, there are plenty of things you do better than him, right? You wouldn't want him getting upset about stuff that's easier for you, would you? Try to look at the positives like everyone above has pointed out instead of focusing on the negative.

You're RIGHT!!! I have a huge problem with comparing myself to other people. Along with this WOE I have decided to change a lot of things in my life. Like for instance... I am going back to school to get my Teaching degree. I already teach preschool but I want to teach elementary. And... I have started taking my kids to church every weekend. It's good for all of us. We do it as a family and it gives us faith in something.

Thank You for pointing my negative attitude out to me.

Re: My DH makes me SO MAD!!!!

I think it is normal to feel a bit off when a person close to you is losing weight faster and you feel a bit upset about it. It just makes you human. It shows me that you are really ready to change and would like to see some significant results. Don't be too hard on yourself. It isn't a race. You will get to your goal if you stick to your plan. Also, kep in mind that *if * you were losing weight at a very rapid pace, your body may stall out for a bit to catch up! *this happened to me* It is nice to see small consistent loses, instead of like a month wiht no movement on the scale at all!

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!
