Are you eating more protein than you did prior to starting Atkins? Also, are you having the required veggies, as well as adequate water?

I'm starting to eat veggies again, I just had 2 cup of lettuce, one serving of articoke, and one serving of hearts of palm with blue cheese dressing. I wonder if it's from working out this morning without anything in my stomache?

A few years ago, my heartburn turned out to be gall bladder stones that the high fat diet kicked up. Didn't stop me going back on Atkins after it was removed. I learned much later that the reason gall bladder stones form is because the gall bladder isn't being used the way it should be on lowfat diets. We eat low fat, the bile sits in the gall bladder doing nothing and turns into rocks. Then when we do eat fat, the gall bladder starts to do what it normally does, except now the stones move and create problems by clogging up the ducts.

At the time of my gall bladder attacks, I didn't track the fat/carb/protein ratio at all, and may have been high on the fat end and light on the vegetable end. Couldn't tell you for sure but I didn't press to eat many vegetables. Apparently, the stones can desolve over time (from the lower carb diet? I'm not sure, I'll have to find out) but you'll want to monitor what you're eating, using a program like FitDay, and any symptoms that flairs up afterwards. Keep the ratio about 65/5/30. If I can get my friend to tell me what it takes to make those stones desolve, I'll post it here.

That's really good advice, thank you Terry. I went from just eating veggies and "Lite Dressing" and no protein, to eating protein, fat, and limitted veggies, so I wonder if my body is in "Shock"

I had the same thing last week. I have no clue why I was having it. It seems to be gone now though, so maybe you're body just has to work out it's kinks.

            Hope you feel better...

I take Prisolec for heart burn all the time... Sometimes too much bacon will cause it.. But I haven't had any problems this week while cleansing my body

LOL! Could be! Except for the gall bladder (which I don't miss) I prefer the shock of weighing myself and consistently losing weight! It's been really good since I've been watching the ratios and making sure I get the correct number of calories in (I tend to eat too little food). Don't know if water plays a factor but you may want to make sure you're drinking plenty of that, too.

But artichokes?!- ack! I tried canned artichoke hearts a month or so ago. Yeegads, they were awful! But they're supposed to be good for you! (For what, I don't know!) Kudos to you for stomaching those!

Turns out that my hurtburn is a virus that's going around the office. 4 other people have the same issues.

                    Re: Heartburn

I was always a sufferer of Heartburn and indigestion ( even after having my Gallbladder removed many years ago ) I can honestly say that I have not had any heartburn or indigestion since i started the Atkins plan. I think i must have been having problems with wheat and sugar or something that I am not eating now -- a bonus! Glad to hear your problem was not related to your starting Atkins Colirina!

                    Cheers

I used to have heartburn all the time also. When I'm on Atkins it disappears. I used to take Prilosec daily. I haven't bought any in four weeks. Yes, your stomach may be sensitive to the fats. I think mine was wheat.
