  • Readers Digest Weight Loss Book

I just received, in the mail, an ad for a new diet book that Readers Digest is producing. It's called "Magic Foods for Better Blood Sugar". In this ad they mention how low-carb diets are bad for you. They will:
    1. Make you feel terrible
    2. Overall health will suffer
3.You miss out on your favorite foods
    etc., etc...

These 57 magic foods are not mentioned too much because they want you to buy the book, but one food they say will help your blood sugar is BEER . They say it is NOT as high in carbs as we were led to believe and that it actually LOWERS your blood sugar.
And here, all these years I thought my round belly was from all the beer I consumed. I quess now I know it was the vegetables that caused it.

LOL that's funny! My dad is a diabetic and if he even THINKS about having a beer his sugar goes up. Its funny to me how many companies are threatened by this WOL and try to discredit it just because they didn't come out with it first.

Yeah those darn brussel sprouts are evil! Look what they did to you. Not to mean its partner in crime, BROCCOLI!

Don't you guys think all the garbage companies put out against Atkins really killed it's "wave" of people doing it?

I believe so. Besides the fact that there are so many people who are uneducated about this WOE. They think its all fat and red meat eating. But the bad press it gets is doing it in.

. Make you feel terrible.............. I FEEL BETTER THAN EVER SINCE STATING THIS WOL!!!

            2. Overall health will suffer.................. NOPE, IM LOSING WEIGHT AT A HEALTHY RATE AND CONSUMING NUTRITOUS FOOD, AND FEEL MORE ENERGIZED

3.You miss out on your favorite foods............ WHAT? I HAVE EATEN MORE OF MY FAVES ON THIS WOE THAN ON ANY OTHER DIET. I DONT FEEL DEPRIVED AT ALL! THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS, AND ALL ARE DELICIOUS.
I CAN EAT STEAK, BURGERS, CHEESE, SALAD WITH RANCH... YUMMMMM

It is sad how people are misinformed about Atkins. It is a shame. I have to admit when I first heard about it, I thought it was all meat and cheese too.. but that was from all the "negative talk" about it.

I couldnt be happier... They are mistaken and missing out!
            Started Atkins 2/19/07
