  • Weight Loss.

I have been on clean, strict induction for six days and don't see any weight loss. Is this normal? How long does it usually take?

    Re: Weight Loss.

It is one of those 'your mileage may vary' (YMMV) things

How much weight are you hoping to lose?
On average people tend to lose between 5% and 10% of their total hoped-for loss in the first 14 days if they havent been on a 'diet' previous to starting induction.
So a heavyweight with 200+ pounds to lose might drop 10-20 pounds or more whereas someone with 15 pounds to lose would be doing above average by losing 1 and a half pounds in that time!!

Some people lose absolutely nothing in that time too but if they follow the plan and dont give up, in time their body lets go and allows them to reach goal

If it is likely to upset you not seeing those scales move downwards then perhaps try not to step on them till your 14 days induction are through!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

        Re: Weight Loss.

I can tell you that I have been doing this for a month and have only lost 4 lbs. But, all of my clothes are fitting much better, so I'm definitely losing inches. I'm not letting it discourage me because at least I can see a little bit of a change. I am one of those who only needs to lose 15-20 lbs so I think it's going to take a little longer....Don't get discouraged! It will come off!

You know, another issue might be that it's really easy to believe you are doing a clean induction while in reality you aren't (speaking from experience here *sigh*). Might be a good idea to post your menu in the "review my menu" forum, and be sure to include what you are drinking as well.

              Re: Weight Loss.

I'd agree with Grant... Though you're probably doing Atkins by the book, it wouldn't be a bad idea, for your peace of mind, to post a couple of menus to the "Review my Menu" forum. That way you'll know if anything does need tweaking. Sometimes it can be just a small thing that'll kick start your weight loss.

I agree with Grant and Sally about posting a sample menu on the other forum. Sometimes hidden carbs can really add up, too! Best of luck to you in your goals!
