  • Sparkling water and SmartWater vs. Regular?

    Hi folks -

I have 2 questions about sparkling water (San pellegrino, seltzer, etc...) and also SmartWater (the water that has electrolytes in it).

    1. Does sparkling water work as well as regular water in terms of relieving thirst, being digested like water, etc...? I have been drinking a lot of San Pellegrino which is natural mineral water, but I wasn't sure if it could be considered a substitute for regular water.

    2. Could drinking water with electrolytes in it as your sole source of water (no sugar or artificial sugar, just water + electrolytes) be bad for you? Also, if you stopped drinking it would regular water no longer suffice to quench thirst? Would it mess up the way you process regular water?

Just curious as i've been drinking a lot of both of those.

I have not come across the water with electrolytes in it but do drink sparkling water now and again. I usually choose it when I am amongst others who are drinking alcoholic drinks as it looks more 'festive' when served with ice and a slice of lemon and makes me feel one of the party!!

However I find it doesnt quench my thirst like plain water does, and so I often alternate them if out for the evening.
