    Good for the ego

It's a lovely summer's day here in my part of Germany and until half an hour ago I only had one pair of summer weight trousers - and those my brother in law gave me when I lost weight and he put in on. (Ouch)

So I'm just back from the High Street where, in the smarter of the two department stores in our tiny town, I was spoilt for choice. Trousers (pants) were all marked in English sizes and I could find any number that fitted - 38" waist 34" leg - in England 33" is normally the longest!

I tried on a 38" waist pair and found it too big - so I have come a way with one pair 36" and one pair 38". Trousers can vary a lot in cut, as we all know. Clearly I am right on the edge of achieving my ambition to get back into 36s.

    It's a good day!

Isn't it amazing the difference 5lbs can make. You look so much smaller in those 203lb photos. Well done! Bring on those 36's....

Thanks. things are never as they seem though, are they? I said I had bought two pairs of trousers - one 36 the other 38. I measured them as an old tailor once showed me - button up the fly at the top and measure across the inside of the waistband - double that measurement. Result.

                            The labelled 38s measure 38.25in
                            The labelled 36s measure 38.00in

                            Vanity sizing?

But I am still well pleased - they are low rise modern cut trousers for the trimmer figure, and they fit me well with my shirt ticked in. what more can a man ask for?
