    Help!

I am hosting a play off party this Sunday (hockey – go Sabres!) I need some ideas for snacks that will be appealing to my guests as well as ok for myself. To tell the truth I have not told anyone that I am doing this WOE yet (I guess I want to have more “proof” that I am successful before I come out with it) I’m not quite ready for the rolling eyes and host of questions. I’m weak – I’m sorry. But in the meantime does anyone have any menu suggestions? I appreciate it! Thanks

    Re: Help! party food!

Go to a deli and get sliced roast beef and whatever cheese you like best. Roll a slice of each up together and spear it with a toothpick and a chunk of bell pepper. Have some nice full-fat ranch dressing alongside for dipping.

Make some Italian-spiced meatballs without any breadcrumbs or carby fillers and stew them in some nice sugar-free marinara. Have some provolone cheese nearby. You can have rolls handy for guests to make meatball sandwiches.

edit to add: And it's nobody's business how you're eating. If anybody asks why you're not having a sandwich, say it's that TOM and you're just totally digging meat for some reason. Have a great party!!

thanks, great ideas! speaking of TOM - I thought I saw that there are male and female forums but now I can't seem to find anything. Is it ok to post those type of questions here do you think?

To join the female forum, PM Bren or Laurenfra--they'll let you in! The women's forum is for "girl stuff" that would embarass most men.

As for party snacks, how about hot wings with celery and bleu cheese? As long as there's no flour or breading on the wings, they'll be perfect, and YUMMY! You can also make jalapeno poppers (without breading). You could also have a veggie tray with dip. Believe me, people will APPRECIATE some healthier options!

          Re: Help! party food!

It NEVER fails that when I take my low carb appetizers to a party, they ALL get eaten and the junk is left behind.

Crab stuffed mushrooms--mushroom caps, crab meat, mayo, old bay and cream cheese. Mix it up, stuff the cap. Bake until browned on the top. Yum.

Jalapeno poppers--cut a jalapeno in half long wise, take out the seeds and membranes, fill the little "boat" of the pepper with cream cheese, wrap a piece of bacon around them and bake until the bacon is cooked. These are always a smashing HIT!

Buffalo wings--wings, baked or fried (baking is easier--actually take out is easiest) Franks red hot sauce and butter. Melt the butter, mix with the franks and toss in with the wings.

Celery sticks, jicama sticks, and blue cheese dressing.

          Veggie tray
          meat tray
          cheese tray
          olive tray

Devilled eggs are always a hit. No one makes them anymore so whenever someone brings them---they're gone in a matter of minutes!

You live in buffalo, the home of the worlds greatest wings, take full advantage of that!!!!!

My favourite place there for wings is Brennan's Bowery
