      Re: Wish Me Luck!

Actually I think the menu is doable...I looked on the web site and there are omelettes, ham, creton (which is like a meat spread- very fatty) , pork rinds and tons of maple syrup based desserts. The only thing that worries me is that normally, everything is cooked or marinated in maple syrup. I am not afraid of the desserts because I don't have that much of a sweet tooth, but the rest is worrying me.

Good luck, and make sure you report back on how you did. Was the menu as reported on the website? Learning how to eat in all situations and restaurants is some of the "fun" of this WOE. Here's to a successful dinner.

Maybe try and eat before you go too! Then you will not be tempted and can just nibble your way through on something legal.

            Re: Wish Me Luck!

Insist that your food be prepared a certain way ... and if you ever feel wary or unsure as to whether this can be done, remind yourself that if fast food restaurant Burger King can do it, so can they. In my travels in and out of the United States, only one restaurant refused to accommodate me when I requested that "this be substituted for that" - and of course, I did not stay to dine.

Remember: being politely particular about your food at an eating establishment is only asking too much if it's a soup kitchen. As a paying customer, you have every right to have your food the way you want it. Order with confidence and you will get what you want. Have fun!

              Re: Wish Me Luck!

I deserve to do the happy dance! Had pork rinds instead of pea soup for the appetizer...then for the main meal, had a plain omelette with tons of ham (didn't put any maple syrup) and thank God, the ham had not been cooked in it. Had no dessert...no sugar pie, no crepes...just a coffee with a bit of milk (they had no cream). I am SOOOOO proud of myself! And then today for lunch, we had a hockey party at a restaurant and I had chicken caesar salad hold the croutons! Thanks for the advice from those who answered my call...xxx
