Who saw inches come off, long before pounds?

Okay... so on and on and on I've gone with my complaints and worries about not losing pounds during induction. But boy oh boy, when I looked at myself in the mirror this morning, I could see that something was definitely happening.

I took my measurements on Friday, and it seems I'm down three inches on my waist since then. Hard to believe that it's even possible, but I took the measurement three times, just to make sure.

Who can tell of an "inchworm" process?

(Thanks for all the loving support in private posts and out front, in the past few days)

What a wonderful post for today~~

I like the term "Inchworms". It is perfect for describing the process of losing inches.

I lost inches long before I lost the pounds. It was so gosh darned frustrating!! (and THEN, when I started losing the inches, it was all above my waist!!! I couldn't even wear smaller pants!). It seems that I'll lose inches for a month - or so- then have a drop in weight(usually five to ten pounds!!)...lose inches for a month-or so- then have a drop in weight (again - another five to ten pounds!).

It does all work out in the end!

      Restart -10/18/2009 - 204.6 lbs (UGH!!!)

Goal - To need a belt/roll waistband of current pants
Goal - To wear the next size down - 11/13/09

        Re: Calling all "Inchworms!"

        What a great post!

My weight loss is amazingly slooooooooooow on the scale, but I have definitely lost the inches all over!!

I've only lost 18 pounds since starting 119 days ago, but have pretty much changed a whole clothing size. My big ole waist is down by about 3 inches.

I still have a long way to go and will eventually get to the scales-number I want, but the inches loss has been such a boost!! And I feel great and more confident and so much more optimistic because this year---2007---I WILL meet my goals: I plan to LOSE the weight and inches and bad habits forever, and GAIN good health and stong confidence and great lifelong eating habits!!

Well look at you PeachyKeen~~well done on your inches lost!
I'm lounging around in "bloatville" this week due to impending TOM, but will stick to my guns and eat well. I'm not measuring this week as I know it won't be where I want it to.
            Glad you're seeing results!

                Re: Calling all "Inchworms!"

This is my first time on Atkins (day 1) but not my first time dieting. I love losing inches even more than losing weight.

From Jan to March I only lost about 10 pounds, but I lost 2 inches from my chest and 4 from my waist during that time!

                      Re: Calling all "Inchworms!"

Inches lost are THE best feeling, it's the deciding factor on how our clothes fit, what size we wear and ultimately how we look to the outside world. The number on the scale is really secondary imo I have had far more success with inches lost on Atkins than any other way of eating ever and it feels great.
Good for you for noticing and posting about it peachykeen, and well done on your progress too
